Racing gets underway from 7am tomorrow! The prologue is around a correctional services facility, with a large population of native baboons. That should make things interesting.

MarathonMTB.com
will be posting results, photos, videos and reports thanks to Laura Garvican. Daily blogs from within the race will be posted to the MarathonMTB.com team site from racers Mike Blewitt and Will Hayter.

It should be an interesting week, check back daily for updates and stories.

Prologue completed.

Shaun Lewis and Pete Hatton racing as a ROCKSTAR team are currently in 16th place. (After the prologue)

When you look at the names with who they are in there competing with... it is very impressive indeed.

Sauser, Brentjens (?), Stander, Hermida, Naef, Huber..

Smashem up boys... Good luck..!

Pete & Lewie now in 23rd on GC after a solid 22nd on stage 2 - sounds like it was a tough 89k's today with some serious downhill sections 'boulders like the size of basketballs'.

Stage 3 is a 104klm - up for the first 18ks.

Keep up the good work fellas.

They are riding great guns, dropping the full time professionals like flies.

A great effort considering their full time jobs, and lack of campervans!

Here's a basic video of Shaun talking about his bike.

A line from one of my favourite movies Platoon wouldn't be out of place there;

"Shut up and take the pain! Take the pain!"

Bad off but with the amount of groaning I was expecting to see he had lost an arm or something.

The groaning had more to do with the combination of being winded due to about three cracked ribs.

It was pretty understandable. Any crash at about 50kmh hurts. More power to him, he rode todays last stage, pretty quickly too.

And both teams were on the podium for stage finishes too. A top effort in a World Class field.
