Have you tried All Terrain Cycles in Mansfield/Mt Buller? I was in the same boat recently and ended up buying their ex-rental 2011 Demo 8 1, which was going for a good price (low enough for me to spec it up to Demo 8 2 spec). They had a Demo 8 2 as well which was going for an absolute steal. They were also selling the Status' for $1600 which would allow for plenty of blinging up spec.
