2010 Trek Range

Look nice, although it's interesting that young Sammy Hill tested them and didn't like them prior to going with Specialised.

2010 Thread is around here somewhere

GODDAM! Tell me about it. I bought a goddam Ventana because it "looks nice". Yep, it sure does look nice, sitting in the corner of the back room with a pile of crap on top of it ;) I prefer ugly bikes that work well. Different to my taste in women ;)

Session frames look great, however I'm still skeptical about durability after hearing about some horror stories floating around the net..

And i still don't like homebrand components on top of the line bikes, especially with the prices their asking.

So the session 8 is just the model below the session 88?

Pretty nice looking bikes. Anyone got RRP's?

Homebrand? If you're referring to Bontrager, they are simply a components company owned by trek. They are in no way a 'homebrand' OEM company.

Maybe not OEM as such, but Bontrager = Trek. I'm sure their products aren't terrible, but (arguably sub-par) full in-house spec on a bike of that calibre (flagship) when compared to competitiors, is laughable, especially at $8K or whatever for the 09 (RRP $10K, mind you).

Can anyone shed light on where the bike is made? (I have heard one of Giant's factories); or any of the questionable durability issues floating around the net (RM etc.)?

The bad rep stems from reports of poor fabrication of main bearing pivots and fragile tubing. These frames are very light, a good thing and a bad thing. Trek offer a 3 year warrantee, but this doesn't cover dinging your frame when you stack etc. Many people didn't like the feel of the Trek suspension, I personally find it a bit stiff over the intial half of the stroke.

Sam Hill was testing out the Session in view to sponsorship but didn't like it and went for the heavier Specialized. Doesn't that mean everything

There might also be some "new kid on the block" mentality against Trek since they're new to DH bikes, who knows?

I believe there is a whole thread on Pinkbike (or maybe several) mainly saying that they dent easily (being so light and thin supposedly). Don't ask me, I wouldn't have a clue, it all just makes interesting reading:D

Lol, and who here rides as good as Sam Hill anyway? Unless you ride like him I wouldn't base your purchasing decision on the fact that he didn't choose to ride for them! But then again his impact with big S seems to be showing!

Seen Giant's homebrand EVERYTHING for 010?

the sessions 8 looks much nicer than the 88, they look less over the top with the paint job. Personally i think that treks are over priced for what they provide, my mate has a 09 sessions 88 and i own a 09 dh1. and with the right adjustments to the glory (eg. new spring and setup) they feel pretty much the same. whether that's just me or not i don't know.

I like the 88 over the 8 actually. I think they're probably great bikes, but need a few more years to get everything right. Look at the session 10 though, the thing laughs in the face of hucking and knows not the meaning of frame snappage.
