I only get to ride maybe 2 or 3 times a month these days so my fitness is crap and when I do go for rides I struggle in the hills. Decided to look at getting a E-mtb. Maybe a Marin Trail 7 or something lower priced.
My 'expert' mate said terrain and riders weight are the main factors with range and performance of e bikes. I'm a big guy, 6'4 and 100kg. Do I need a premium motor and a 600+ battery to get me around the local 30k trail rides? My favourite trails do have a lot of steep areas which will be hard on the bike. I can get up them in my current bike but man it's not fun..
Also, expert mate said the lower tech stuff doesn't last that long, so I'm to expect a 20-30% battery degradation in 2 years? 99 bikes salesguy is like 'maybe 10% over 5 years' which sounded too optimistic.
Any truth in either opinion?
