G'day all,
I just want to share with all Rotorburners the news of the formation of the Yarra Ranges Mountainbikers.
The Yarra Ranges Mountainbikers is a group of like minded mountain bike enthusiasts dedicated to expanding mountainbiking in the Yarra Valley by dealing respectfully with land owners and local authorities. It advocates responsible trail use, building and maintenance in accordance with IMBA standards and hopes to turn the Yarra Valley into a world class Mountainbike destination. We are an advocacy group, not a mountainbike club.
As many Rotorburners are aware, there is an absolute plethora of quality trails in the Yarra Valley. Currently, very few of these trails are legal. This group has been formed with the intent of working together with the relevant land owners to ensure these trails meet the standards required and new trails can be planned.
We have the interests of all mountainbikers as a group covered, and that includes cross-country, all mountain, and downhill.
There will be no discussion of (currently) illegal trails here. Please respect this.
A committee has been elected but the group is still in it's infancy. We have created a public Facebook page and also a Twitter account for those interested to follow us. Memberships will soon be available for those willing to support the cause at minimal cost (~$20 p/a). Details to follow soon.
If anyone has any questions, don't hesitate to ask. It is an exciting time for mountainbikers in the Yarra Ranges but there is a lot of work yet to be done.
