That's right the Dirty Gran Fondo is back!

Date: Saturday 10th May 2014
Location: Wandong, Victoria - course is runs around Mt. Disappointment
Distance: 35k / 65k / 90k on mostly fire roads and 4wd tracks (NO SINGLETRACK)

Categories are based on what type of bike you ride: 26" wheels, 29" wheels, Cyclocross or MONGREL (Any other adaption of the bike: 650b, singlespeed, fixie, fat bike, etc) The course is set through the scenic, mountainous dirt roads of Mount Disappointment, with some parts of the terrain suiting mountain bikes and others cyclocross bikes.

Sure there's a race going on at the point end, but that's not what the Dirty Gran Fondo is all about. There are 4 feed zones on route where riders can stock up on food and hydration, and back 2014 the Fitzroy Revolution's DC will be setting up the coffee-stop for the 65k and 90k riders. Sit back, take your shoes off, settle round the fire and take a sip on a coffee before embarking on the second leg of your ride!

Due to the varied distances and categories the ride attracts cyclists of all skill and experience levels: last year saw world champion Paul van der Ploeg alongside first time riders and competitiors as young as 12 years old! It's a perfect opportunity for first timers wanting to get off the road and into a bit of dirt!

With the event being held the day before Mother's Day, Big Hill Events are offering all Mum's 50% off the entry price if they enter before 30th April!

When I rode the course a few weeks ago I saw the same 4WD 3 times (had a good chat with them) and one other car. They're as good as closed.

the only fondo I've done is Amy's Gran Fondo, all closed roads and pretty good descending without worrying about cars entering road.

as its in the sticks probably not many cars around anyway.

Yep, we did a course ride on Saturday (just gone) and saw only two 4wd who were both very friendly.

There are "Event in Progress" signage on all entrances to the forest and all the marshals hand out course maps to any motorists passing them to make sure they're aware there are a load of cyclists in the forest (and where they will find/avoid them).
