On 27/8/11 the Sutherland Cycling club held a MTB race with a difference. Riders from 4 to 50+ raced around a circuit at night with mirror balls, smoke machines, strobes and various coloured flashing, moving lights replacing normal obstacles. The juniors raced over a still light 400m course whilst the seniors raced over a dark disco lit tight, 1km cirtcuit. This track is a fast flowing singletrack which has been fastidiously maintained by Perren and the crew. If you hate climbing but love tight, twisty singletrack with plenty of well constructed berms then this course will suit you.
MTBing the shire's future is well assurred with more than 50 juniors lining up...Although I dont have results I have made up a short 4min video to showcase the event. Although the night Disco event probably wont be held again for perhaps another year there are plans to race the course at least monthly. This is an intense format over around 15 to 20 minutes guaranteed to sharpen the reflexes of riders of all standards. Thanks to Perren for a well run event.
