Have you ever wanted to have a go at riding single track in the bush but have nobody to go with? Or ride that roll over, rocky section or drop but never had the guts? Or, for the guys, have you ever wanted to get your wife, girlfriend, mother, daughter, sister or female friend into mountain biking but weren’t sure how to start? Here’s your chance.

Gippsland MTB are hosting a womens social ride weekend on the fun and cruisy trails at Blores Hill on 8th and 9th of September. Female riders of all abilities are encouraged to come along and have a go at mountain biking, meet new riding buddies, develop riding skills (including all those obstacles you never thought possible), learn some mechanic skills, eat lots of good food and most of all, HAVE FUN!!!

The weekend will start at 9.30am Saturday at Munjara Camp with some basic skills, before hitting the trails in ability groups and having some fun for the afternoon. The really keen riders can go for a night ride while the smart ones sip wine, learn some basic bike maintenance skills and settle in for a social evening back at the camp. Sunday morning will involve a social ride with a very fun twist??? before a BBQ lunch and farewells.

All fitness and skill levels are welcome. You don’t need to be a club member to participate. The emphasis is on fun and having a go.

All you need to bring is a mountain bike in good condition (have it serviced prior if not sure), helmet, spare tubes, lights (if keen for a night ride), riding clothes, small backpack, water bottle, sleeping gear, personal items and any specific food items you prefer while riding. The club has some bikes available to loan for the weekend if you don’t have a mountain bike.

The cost is $50 per person for club members including all meals (BYO alcohol) and accommodation. Non-members pay an additional $5 for a social day license. For catering purposes, all participants need to pre-register online by 7pm Tuesday September 4th.

Head to www.gippslandmtb.com.au to register!

If you require further information or require a loan bike email events@gippslandmtb.com.au with any questions. See you there!!!

This was the first one we have had. We had 9 ladies along and had a great fun weekend of eating great food and a bit of cruisy riding. We will definitely be doing another one, but probably not until next year as the club has lots of events coming up in the near future. We had a good mix of newbies and experienced riders. We will probably promote a little wider next time but didn't want to be overrun for the first one.
