The Rostrevor Forest MTB park (was sponsored by CRC) in NI has the trail base built in typical forest but has a dolomite topping on it so that when the rest of the forest is sodden with the constant rain, the trail base drains well and has a compact singletrack, where if you go wide and off the side, its like peat bog.
Works well in a wet climate and when CRC was sponsoring it, had a good trail maintenance program going. Dont know how it goes now.
