On 27/8/11 the Sutherland Cycling club held a MTB race with a difference. Riders from 4 to 50+ raced around a circuit at night with mirror balls, smoke machines, strobes and various coloured flashing, moving lights replacing normal obstacles. The juniors raced over a still light 400m course...

Yeah...as a MTB'er he is middle of the pack...His technical skills are not the best (I dont believe he rode pushies much as a kid...but could outrun and outfish anyone)....However, get him on a firetrail with a hill finish and a lot of people would be left for dead. BTW...I took my Monniker...

This is a great race (I like it better than the Scott as it is more laid back). For those that use the "SPONSORS" product the Aussie Importer of GU aka Lloydie (a runner turned MTB'er who sponsors a lot of enduro type events) turned 50 last month. This isnt cycling but check him out on UTUBE...

Just noticed this and totally unrelated to the subject but couldnt let it go...as a former runner...still do a little but not much...I found running gave you a "high" much more so than riding...but (and here is the clincher) .... only when you are in the superfit zone and pushing...

Hi all Unfortunately due to illness etc I am unable to ride. However, I do have a 6 berth cabin booked which if anyone is interested can re book through the operators...imagine having a place to come and have a shower and use a toilet without queuing....It is booked for Friday and Saturday...

I did the full fling and had a few mechanicals. I was running a fairly new Shimano HG chain and new cluster. I snapped the chain 3 times...I had a SRAM link in there but must have lost it in a previous raid on the toolkit. To top it off the chain breaker spat the link breaker into the bushes so...

I'm glad others have this opinion. I have a Ti Merckz Litespeed Road bike that is over 10 years old and I love it dearly. However, my LBS is pushing his carbon barrow saying Ti is for fat, old bastards and it just doesnt accelerate as fast as carbon. Can the technically gifted please...

I thought that at the time but could not work out how they would do it and keep the rims round...guess my limited mechanical mind doesnt cope with this...so from what you are saying they would use different size spokes to create the off centre effect?

Reminds me of a group ride through the Royal Nat Park a few weeks ago. We were riding on a piece of legal MTB singletrack. This huge dog bounds across the track, misses the first rider and takes the second rider out. The second rider did a great superman impersonation and a 9.5 on the endo...

oh btw..forgot to mention I had trouble finding spare 29" tubes so took the suggestion from this forum of using 26" tubes...Rode Sydney to gong on the s/w 29er and raced last night using the 26" tubes with no probs so I wont bother even worrying about 29" tubes in future.
