Hi All,
Been somewhat out of the game for a while now and standards are getting the better of me.
I've just purchased a new to me norco sight 2016 model with iscg 05 tabs and MRP chainguide. I want to swap this chainguide with the one on my 2016 specialized enduro. I thought this would be fine, both are non boost frames but the chainline appears off. Namely the guide from my enduro rubs on the inside surface of the norcos chainring. Not by a little, by a lot!
My assumption is that ISCG tabs/guides are a universal fit and not boost/non boost or bottom bracket specific? I must be wrong?
Also whilst we're here, can I run a 12 speed mtb cassette on a regular 8,9,10 speed hyperglide freehuh body or does it need to be 12 speed specific? I'm wanting to do a 1x12 conversion on my partners bike but don't want to buy a new wheel or hub body.
Thanks for the advice, I must be getting old.
