No dipstick. This is a Ford it has a dipstick... found it on a shelf. Refit and check, oil is good. Jump the battery and start the engine (nice little turbo 4 pot) and charging system ok. Battery warning light on, tyre pressure warning light on, body light warning light on... check tyres. 20psi all round so pumpety them up. Go and buy a battery. All now ok except tyre pressure indication and tailight blown. They remember something was written on the service receipt from the dealer earlier in the year. Check that... possible abs unit fault causing tpms warning. Are you guys fucking mental? Delve into ecu and nada, no codes stored, pending or current. Try the bcm and there it was. Low pressure warning. Reset that and confirmed parameters. Light is off. Guess who is getting a call tomorrow? Swapped in a new brake/tail bulb which involved removing external screws, internal screws, interior trim and a blood sacrifice on the punched body later and now no warning lights. In the process find the space saver spare is loose and sure enough clamp and bracket on the next shelf down where the dipstick was. Jack up the car and look for carrion and all good. Test drive fine. Sigh, so sad. No way would the car be let go like this even a year ago. It hurts my heart. Sorry guys. Needed to get that out of my system. My mum had dementia and she just faded away, thus is somehow more insidious seeing the effect on what was a brilliant mind.

It hurts hard and it's often the best that are taken fastest. One of our riding buddies succumbed to it. He switched to an e-bike to still keep going. It was just 18 months between his last ride with us and his funeral.
 
saw a post from derby about their billy cart race. brought back memories of that great bit of aussie literature, bicycles dont fly. doesnt seem to have last long, but we had to make dioramas 3 in my class did that book.
 
We may be old but we are not old enough to be losing so many contemporaries. Attended a memorial for a work colleague 2 weeks ago. He retired early to look after his wife and travel. Managed to get to 64 before the big c took him out. Friend had to comfort close friend while they switched off her husband. Massive stroke at 50. This year has many around me reassessing just how important the things they do everyday really are. Could we be having more fun. I want to retire and I want to have my friends around me when I do.
 
My targeted advertising content seems to be swinging more and more to...eeeebs. this morning was the sub 6k amp ampflow treking/commuting full power eeeeeeb.

When a mate found out I was doing some more part time stuff for another mate he said didn't you retire? So I said yes, in 2017, 2019 and again in 2023. I am just not very good at it. Two days a week isn't really working anyway.
 
practice makes perfect. 2 days a week sounds great. any day i dont have to try and squeeze work in around what other time i can make would be nice

2 days sounds like enough beer money... how does that affect you super annuity and tax position?

I suppose basically no different to always you just pay tax on your total income for the year whether it be from paid work or a super annuity pension type arrangment.

Tricky to answer. I pay myself up to $4.00 per year. Travel allowance as possible. Buy whatever the company desperately needs and doesn't. Then the excess gets pumped into super.

I saw two different jobs advertised today (including one for freshly graduated interns in an environment and ecology company) that both had one of the essential selection criteria listed as 'manual drivers licence'.

I seen a design engineer position that also listed a manual drivers licence. That rules out any fresh graduates! 🤣
Maybe it is to weed out people with not much life experience. 🤷‍♂️
