WINGELLO MTB TRAILS CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

Following the Morton bushfire on the night of Sat 4 January, we can see from the RFS fire mapping that at least 90% of the MTB trails in Wingello State Forest have burnt.

At the time of posting, the Morton fire is still active. Even after it is controlled and out, the forest will remain unsafe due to burnt and fallen trees, and subsequent forest management activities.

We expect that it will be at least a couple of months before we are given permission to enter the forest to assess the impact of the fires on the Wingello MTB trails, and after that, it is likely there will be several more months of hard work required to repair the trails before they can be reopened.

This post is to formally advise that the Wingello MTB trails are CLOSED to ALL RIDERS until further notice. Please respect the CLOSURE of Wingello State Forest by the Forestry Corporation of NSW [ https://www.forestrycorporation.com...5CLAW23V1BusedVTeACPsQRNd6_gsQ-KRy-rtqRIcO6UA ] and DO NOT enter the forest or attempt to ride the MTB trails. Please share this information with others you know who might consider riding at Wingello.

We will post further information as and when it becomes available. For the time being, we know that the Forestry Corporation are working hard to protect the remaining areas of Wingello State Forests and other forests in the Southern Highlands, and thank them, NPWS and the RFS for their incredible efforts to fight these fires this summer.
