Whats the best beer you've had & why?

If you enjoy that (and who doesn't) but want something local and a little less robust, the Moo brew Dark Ale is a very tasty beverage. An American Brown Ale and very enjoyable alternative to all the PAs/IPAs around. Also, the HBC Habour Master, which is an American Red Ale. Both are great alternatives for those that like a stout but don't always feel like a heavy beer.

But then you get the occasional weirdo that's delicious like the Modus Black Japanese Lager.

Does Modus still exist? I assumed they folded, I haven't seen anything of theirs in the shops or on tap for years.

I know its benign - the one time I did it was on a demo bike I was more focused on riding than riding the trail and i hit the drop without thinkng - and it was totally fine. There are similar drops on the Meehan Range trails i amused myself with... It was totally in my head and very silly.

I do still get a bit homesick for stromlo, and the bevvy and toasty afterwards. Might be time for another "meetings at HO" trip back to canberra soon with the Orange in the bike bag. I do believe they have Crankshaft on tap there - so maybe I can do the drop after all!
The one that gets in my head is that half-jump, half-drop right at the top of the mountain as you start wedgetail. It's actually very benign, but hard to get the speed up after the turn and it looks like a gap, but it's actually not. The headwind you often get up there often makes it undoable.

Coopers Export Stout tastes like vegemite.

Yeah that one I usually rode around too…

I am a fan of all the Moo Brews!

I seem to have settled on a varied selection of Coopers XPA (purple), Coopers Australian Lager (bluey silver or old cattle dog?), Young Henry's Newtowner or the Coopers (Carlsberg) zero alcohol beer adjacent drink. And a gravel bike, ridden fearfully, on the Newell Highway verge.

Newtowner is a good shout. My go to at the local is Reschs.

Been smashing Guiness 0 this month, it is surprisingly good.

I love krieks, framboise, sours, but the pricing is criminal here in Aus. Used to get kreik on tap at the Sloany Pony in London, on a rare sunny hot London summers day, nothing beat sitting on Parsons Green a pint of cold kreik in hand taking in the young gorgeous sloans letting it hang out in the sun. The BBQ they put on was also ace. Close to my favourite pub in London outside of the "foody" michelin star ones.

I recently saw Snot at the Enmore Theatre. Guitarist Mikey Doling handed me a Newtowner straight from the stage between songs. I'll remember that beer for a long time.
So good, reminds me of the unfortunate shituation I was in when I got stuck between a couple of drummers at an underground whiskey bar in town, I tried to buy them a round and was promptly scolded at told to pull my head in...turned into a large night in the end but will never forget it, some memories will stick for a long time.

Nah, Coopers Stout is a brilliant beer.
Agree. For me, Vic Bitter is the one that should have been renamed Vegemite Beer, And that was also one of the 'sensations' in my mouth after waking up fulling clothed, face down on my bed after a large session on the stuff.

When the yeast leftover from brewing VB is one of the ingredients in Vegemite it's not that surprising.
