First ride on elecwizardry X01/XX AXS T-Type kit. Very schmancy, shifting is very nice, shifts remarkably well under power, quickly and accurately. Zzt zzt. Also figured out I can connect the bike to the Wahoo as a combined power/cadence/speed sensor, so that's neat.
Shifter ergonomics aren't as good as Shimano mechanical or Di2, even with the rocker paddle. Probably need to play with it more.

Had the YYs MTB club shuttle day today with my xbrother and 2 of the nephews. First time for the youngest nephew who did really well.
No crashes, did a no footer after leaving the takeoff of a tiny jump on Cressy and landed with said foot jarring the ground. It's a miracle I didn't crash TBH.
Bike clean over a beer to finish it off.

I too had a ride! Friend's wife drove some awaba laps for us. Happy days! Felt so good to be on the trail and away from the daily grind.

Raced the final round of the Mersey MTB club's winter series yesterday and got a second place in my class. Top day for it and the Kelcey Tiers trails were running mint!
Chased the guy in the Daltini jersey for the whole race and finally broke him and got past on the last lap.
It's actually illegal to not take a photo at that lookout.

I made it back in time for half a two hour race!
Plane from Melbourne hit the tarmac 10 minutes before race start, grab bags, thankfully I had left my car at the airport for the week, out to the track.
The long game I didn't know I was playing paid off. Ex-VC had his bike there for a bit of riding before I take him to Melrose. So I had a helmet, shoes and the correct sized bike waiting for me when I finally arrived. And my two main "rivals" were in Alice Springs racing gravel. Free series points!
There's a photo of me in street clothes on his bike. I'm not sure I want that internetted.

Ace ride today.
Rode some excellent Redhill roadside... Baldry's Crossing up to Arthur's Seat and then back down to the car, 15km, then beer.
A few months ago, I spent many hours with my brush cutter, clearing the top section of Baldry's which had become un-ridable. Anyway, I was really pleased to see it was still happening and there were tyre tracks aplenty... tick.
Sue was working, so just me on my lonesome... and I saw this massive mushroom on the climb... clearly Beef Wellington for tea.

My Dearest Evie,
I am so, so, very sorry. That was a mess from the very start. I think we both knew when we found all the streams flowing down the mountain on Friday morning that it was going to be one of those races. But the way those 6 hour guys ripped up the track. Oh my Lord.
As always I'm eternally grateful for the way you carry my Dad-bod arse through these adventures. Over 150km on those trails in those conditions, we should be proud. You make me look way better than I should, especially going down. That's where we really shine together!
Speaking of shining, how amazing was that sunrise! By far my two most favourite laps of the race.
I have to leave you resting, but when I get home I'll clean you up. I think we both need the break! I can assure you a new drive train is coming, just be patient. Sorry, I can't promise to not commit the atrocity again, you do what you need to do in the heat of battle, but if I didn't lube when I did, we would not have made it.
Here's to next year, hopefully there is one.

Yep. Took three bikes over, only one drive train survived.
