Back to Mt Narra yesterday, it was pretty busy, but I had a good time. Checked out Rampage, chickened out on the first roll in though I am 100% certain there is a gnarlier roll further down on King Brown Alley, anyways rest of it pretty good but cased the gap sigh. Did some good times on anchors and king brown alley, was feeling pretty great but wasn't clean at all on Happy Ending. Came back up and tried Rust Bucket for the first time ; was pretty ordinary on that one as well.
Overall stoked on my riding on anchors and king brown, held pretty good speed and felt controlled, stoked to see some improvement, but would love to nail the whole of rampage in link it into the other trails for the ultimate top to bottom.
Next time will check out some of the further trails.
Shout out to trail fairies there again.
I second this.
Though I don't know anything about running and gravel.
Based on my experience, that looks like downhill to me..
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7391101 (may take time to go live)3d printed what now!! I wouldn’t have been able take a photo of my latest ifp fill because I didn’t even have enough hands to hold the shock pump and needle at the same time. Let alone a phone. If that’s ghetto, I’m the shock junkie in the back alley with the used needle. More than once I’ve snapped those buggers while it’s wiggling and jiggling as I try to pump in a few extra psi, and then I just pray it doesn’t shoot out at my face (yes safety glasses mandatory).
BRB going to search for stl files

Tested out a mullet setup on the Chisel today. Felt really fast, but not as playful as a full 27.5" setup. Strava says I'm slower up the big techy climb out (was a bit slippery today though), but faster everywhere else.
Yes it's mainly a descending trail, but mostly rideable on a XC bike. But that corner always fucked my head: there's Big Arse Rock 1 on the right while you pick your way through the lumpies in the trail then into a hard right corner, and if you get the lumpies & corner entry wrong, there's Big Arse Rock 2 on the exit of the corner to smash into.Based on my experience, that looks like downhill to me..
I think you need to step out of your comfort zone...time to hit the send button!
Just a guess but...maybe be you are seeing results with the weight loss, the running is going well and showing improvements, road and gravel meh...just churn up the cardio (also avoid car doors i guess).
mountain doesn't give you the same rapid feedback of progress. It requires a rather unique type of fitness (which i currently dont have), and to overcome some caution/fears.
If you have been out hitting goals in your other pursuits, its going to make putting the bike on dirt feel like a failure if you arent also nailing it there.
That's quite considered and yes it could be a factor. I'll keep it up and see if I can make more progress - I have a point to point race coming in October so I'll be ramping up riding anyway.
Yep not my first time coming unstuck on that corner last time exact same thing but different bike, then you used get the freaks who ride up it, as it is a two way trail, but with e-bikes now, I’ve seen more often than before.Yes it's mainly a descending trail, but mostly rideable on a XC bike. yep - it's actually pretty smooth and looks relatively easy but it's all upstairs LOL. There's a farking tree hanging over which also puts the shits up you even though there is plenty of clearance.I havent been out there for a few years, that climb is brutal. Is the roll in for rampage the pile of rocks at the top near the trig point thing? Or something else? Youll feel awesome when you hit it, but is always a real "are you sure about this?" Just before letting go.
I am very aware of my limitations and lack of terrain experience when it comes to MTB these days and picking through rocks has never been my strong point...Yes it's mainly a descending trail, but mostly rideable on a XC bike. And yes - the climb sux balls especially when you keep having to pull over for the eebs![]()

...Don't they all. along with looking 'not that high' until you're actually up there on 2 wheels and not having ample faith for a leap of faith.....!Looking at the photo it looks so much smoother than it does when you are rolling in! I was disappointed the mandatory drop just after this was gone at my last visit. As was a mandatory drop i fucked myself up on quite a few years ago. Hucked off that one into a tree!

Yep its still the same. it's pretty smooth as & should be a piece of piss. But as I said, my mind was "yeah nah" LOLIts a real head fucker! Even the shifty rock ledge leading out to it can be a bit unnerving. There used to be a kind of blind nose dive rock drop maybe a hundred metres or so further along the ridge line, is that still there as well?
I took this photo on my last visit there, which a scroll way way way back through my photo gallery indicates was in august 2024.
