What did you do TO / WITH / FOR your bike today!

Never totally loved the Canyon Spectral 125 so saw Specialised have the Stumpjumper alloy 15 frame on sale - 1 left in my size so popped down to the LBS and ordered it in. Lets see how that goes when I get around to moving parts over and building it up in the next 6-18 months.

Don't really care about colour... but it's quite yellow. Maybe I can make it really ugly and pair it with some purple components.

I saw the tied spokes and wondered about that. That is genuinely impressive. Carbon rim I'm guessing?
Carbon yes but nothing fancy, just the factory Trek Bontrager offering.

A big stick I presume? That's a hell of a lot of broken spokes!
Yep, about the size of a cricket bat handle, flicked up and sat neatly atop both seat stays. Wish that I had of thought to take a photo before I removed it.

Putting the disintegrating spokes to one side for a moment, how do you find the VHS chainstay? worth the 65$?
Does exactly what it's supposed to do and with less faffing around compared with the STFU chain silencer.

More impressive is that I was still able to ride it, albeit gingerly, 10km back to the car.

Yes, good job to ride it out... I bet it was spongy as.

Reminds me of when I took 8 spokes out of my front wheel at Lysty. I rode it out too, but at least with it being the front wheel, I could get off the back of the bike to take pressure off the front.

Nudged just over 40km/h on the way back to the car modulating the front brake while precariously perched over the front wheel and avoiding the rear brake in an attempt to keep the rear wheel from fully imploding.

Wishing Well descent on Watagan Forest Rd for those playing along at home.

Got a CoD. Unfortunately Mum passed away yesterday so this does help to clear my mind a little bit.

Some oddness in the past day with the cat of no shame deciding yesterday to sleep on Mum's bed, the precision tyre spearing and my trusty bike-o-meter only plotted a 1/3 of the trail today before just stopping.

Forgive me lord for I have sinned.

I haven't ridden the Nicolai for 9 months this includes 3 months after I got an Avalanche damper installed.

Gently blew at the cobwebs with a short ride and happy to report that the bike is as awesome as I remember. The damper is awesome, the Grip2 is a pale shadow of it. Makes me feel stupid for sitting on it for a few years.

Now I just need to put out the dumpster fire that is my body.

Sorry to hear this sad news. Remember grief is part of recovery even though it's most unpleasant.
