What did you do TO / WITH / FOR your bike today!

Ya, get the scans. Thankfully mine was only a bit of bursitis and some accompanying inflammation. But after crashing in January it still has it's bad days now so you don't want to be messing with more damage than that for too long.
I still chant 'Cardy George Hill' when descending that trail, I've even caught myself narrating the safe passage down the rut garden brakeless as if i was talking you through it :p

Should probably do a short vid of it.

Stop scaring me  waiting to see the doc now.

Edit
My debriding skills are good, upgraded tetanus to boost. Need an X-ray and ultrasound, referral says
? Rotator cuff
As I mentioned, I needed an MRI. The X-ray and Ultrasound didn't show up the issues. The orthopaedic surgeon considered them useless and only wanted to see an MRi.

See how you go but if you don't make meaningful progress in a few weeks then you know what to do.

I couldn't left my arm above shoulder height.

Have you created a new Strava segment though?

Little bit of a catch 22, but I wouldn't have had the MRI unless I got referred to the surgeon. The public specialist I did see for the first injury did state that ultrasounds are notoriously unreliable.

I went to see the surgeon as I knew I'd dislocated it at least once and it was quite unstable, and I finally wanted it fixed. Rotator cuff is a different injury though.

The other aspect as mentioned is find a good physio, and they're definitely not all the same.

What was your injury, Rev, rotator cuff as well?

Mine was rotator cuff. Been spot on since the repair 10 years ago. Same deal, surgeon sent me for the MRI, mine had dislocated ~7 times in a year or so. I was trying the physio route but it didn't work, however in recovery after surgery it was very helpful.

Mine was pretty involved.
Full rupture of long head bicep tendon, torn labrum, cracked clavicle, torn superspinatus.

All from a sublaxation, not even full dislocation.
Surgery plus rehab took 9 months...

Sounds like I got off lightly, I missed the collarbone and supraspinatus. Did manage to tear the bicep tendon as well though.

Boss called a random and unexpected 'wellbeing break' so quickly kitted up and did an hour at Mt Annan. A welcome interlude! Couple of young guys riding there, one of whom had decided that a buttoned up business shirt (including top button) tucked into black jeans was sensible riding attire; he appeared to be having a less than optimal amount of fun.

When I fully dislocated my shoulder in 2019, I used the soft tissues and connective tissue healing peptides BPC-157 and TB500 (synthetic version of Thymosin Beta 4). Inside 10 days I had full motion, not pain free, and not full strength, but full motion. To achieve this at 42yo, with a full dislocation, is remarkable.

Both peptides are injected into belly fat, the BPc-157 twice a day.
BPC-157 is not schedule 4, so you don’t need a prescription but I would. TB-500 is definitely prescription, it’s schedule 4.
Not many doctors can prescribe due to their professional insurance not covering them. Find a compounding pharmacy that caters for peptides and ask them for their doctors list.

TB-500 is wada banned.

This combo is what the Essendon doping scandal was based around.

Both are very powerful, if you go for a hard 2 hour ride, the usual next morning leg soreness is completely absent, most of this is attributed to BPC-157.

I’m using BPC-157 to try and prevent what my surgeons deemed an almost guaranteed full large intestine removal due to huge amounts of diverticulosis. (Holes in the wall of the intestine).

Never ever ever trust surgeons. They just want to cut. For them, the pro/con analysis is massively biased towards cutting. If a normal person considers the threshold for acting to be 50%, so 50% in favour, 50% not in favour of a certain path, the surgeon is wanting to act when the pro’s pass the 25% point.

Two orthopaedic surgeons told me without surgery I’d never have full use of my shoulder again after reviewing my images. Never had the surgery, shoulder is pain free, as strong as the other.

My two colorectal surgeon opinions were that I was on the surefire path to a full large intestine removal and shit bag inside a few months. Scary stuff in a covid world, large part of your immune system is based around your gut.

Both times my integrative doctor has been right, surgeons just want to cut.

Worst still, both colorectal surgeons had absolutely fucking nothing to contribute to treatment strategies, “sorry mate I’m just the plumber”. Of course I find peer reviewed literature stating the simple amino acid L-Glutamine, over the counter at chemists warehouse, and every supplement shop in the nation, is hugely beneficial. Between Glutamine and BPC-157 I’m hopeful the next scope confuses the fuck out of the colorectal surgeon.

Thanks for this. I think much of this is down to the individual circumstances. Your latter intestinal points are enlightening though.

I'd wager most surgeons would opt for the cut and see what's happening approach in the main.

The reason I trust mine is having seen many (some I wouldn't give the job of sewing a patch on my jeans) the one who has operated on me three times now absolutely wouldn't operate when I wanted him to.

It was too late, and having followed the advice of doctors and specialists that it would heal on its own, the surgeon told me he and any surgeon would make matters worse by trying to repair it now.

Those peptides sound miraculous. Definitely worth investing time into understanding them.

Surely that's gotta start hurting his chances of staying on a team. You can be as fast as you want but if you start gaining a reputation for not keeping it rubber side down it can't be a good thing.

For the first time in a long time I've had the weather, time and motivation to get out on my roadie during my lunchbreak. My bikes been sat here all winter waiting to get ridden again
Had organised with my boss/riding buddy that we'd get out at ~1130 to be back for a 1pm meeting. Even remembered my water bottle
Got ready, got outside, go to clip myself in
*snap*
Bloody chain snapped on me
Must have been too many watt bombs

Luckily, as my boss said, it did so before I got going
Has a few cracks in other links so looks like it was on the way out anyway.

Must be new bike time.
