Always go full retard. My DHF front and Aggressor rear combo works pretty well on loose pack over rock here in the West, although my 2.5 wide rear tyre might be overkill.

Try a Nobby Nic ?Since they don’t make the Hans Dampf in the lighter snakeskin (Super Ground) casing anymore (for the front of a trail bike) I’m considering trying the Dissector exo as it’s the same weight as the lightest HD now (Super Trail).
Only concern is the Dissector has that pattern with a massive gap to the edge blocks with no intermediate blocks.
Vendor isn't selling the rest of my polygon by any chance?
Half a dozen rides on in Newtons (non ST) front and rear and I'm happy. Better on the sandy hardback at Stromlo than the Michy Wild Enduro, but as you've said before the Wild Enduro is the one to beat for bomb proof go anywhere grip.Yeah, my mate is running a Newton ST front/SS rear. Great grip up front he says.
What are they like when you push them through high speed corners on hardpack ?Half a dozen rides on in Newtons (non ST) front and rear and I'm happy. I dont get the love for Maxxis tyres in general, ive always been a bit underwhelmed.
Good so far, but to be fair ive not pushed them hard yet - only one ride on cleats where i had confidence to push! But I guess the best thing I can say about them is that I didnt think about them riding yet. What are they like when you push them through high speed corners on hardpack ?
Years ago someone told me to try a Magic Mary, best tyre ever blah, blah. The first high speed corner I come to, I lean the bike over and it just goes straight ahead off the trail from the nobbies flexing, tore all the side of my leg open of a gravel dirt mound. Still got the tyre sitting on a rack to this day and looks brand new.
So slow beacause of the friction the traction causes.I wonder what these high grip enduro tyres are like bimbling about in Smithfield or Davies Creek?
Which is why I went with Rekons, they just slip a bit when standing on the pedals at slow speed. So slow beacause of the friction the traction causes.
It gets fairly loose and muddy in there during the wet season. I don't mind big nobbs on tyres just not for dust over hard packI wonder what these high grip enduro tyres are like bimbling about in Smithfield or Davies Creek?
Yep. Big knobs on hard pack are useless. The right compound may help, but still not ideal. It gets fairly loose and muddy in there during the wet season. I don't mind big nobbs on tyres just not for dust over hard pack
For those that ride there. What is your go to for the You Yangs?Yep. Big knobs on hard pack are useless. The right compound may help, but still not ideal.
I have some Vee Tyre Snaps (2.6) on the way for the next wet season (plus my existing DHF).It gets fairly loose and muddy in there during the wet season. I don't mind big knobs on tyres just not for dust over hard pack
Minion SS used to be, but running aggressor now, and think it’s better suited. For those that ride there. What is your go to for the You Yangs?
Obviously a very subjective question, but I'm always curious.
