Trump..... (The Sophistry Thread)

Yep. Its really low grade I think, and also not economic for any oil companies to go back in to produce. I guess its more about general supply restrictions raising oil prices for bulk profits for US domestic producers? That reminds, should top off the car...
Yep, the complete lack of interest in any of the major petroleum / oil companies for jumping into Venezuela is pretty telling. The investment in infrastructure to get everything up to standard apparently outweighs any potential profits in the short term.
Petrol station was packed this morning. Part war, part upcoming long weekend. Young lady behind the counter indicated we could see fuel at $3/litre in the near future based on the emails she'd seen.
Should do wonders for inflation. Trump will be forced to the negotiating table sooner rather than later if this drags on, which it will.

Oh well, fuel price spikes always when any mention of the Middle East or a public holiday. More cause to ride that bike.
Air fares will be interesting to watch. They will have cancelled bookings with empty seats that they will be dying to fill alongside bigger fuel bills to balance.

Just hope the best for all in the region if the Islamic nutters have truly been removed for now. Less supply of Iranian drones for Putin to send to Ukraine is also an added bonus,

The US squeezing Venezuelan and Iranian oil and other supply chains in turn making it a little bit harder for Russia and China. Don't buy Chinese Temu radar like those guys either kids.

Can be sure it wasn't one of the Orange ones brainstorming 4D chess master plans either. Imagine Iran could even end up with a stable leadership if the current vacuum is filled for the good of the people and Hamas and Hezbollah have lost their backers if and when the dust settles. Still a long painful way to go though.

Apparently a $10 increase in oil barrel price results in a 10c increase at the pump price!

Drone pilots, however....

“President Trump is using a very common cream on the right side of his neck, which is a preventative skin treatment,” Dr. Sean Barbabella said in a statement. “The President is using the treatment for one week, and the redness is expected to last for a few weeks.”

I don't understand how Iran could close the Hormuz Strait when they have the Israeli's and Americans in full swing against them. They've taken out their navy. What are they using, small craft, ASMs, shaheds?

If they shoot a few anti ship missiles and make ship captains nervous, that would be enough to effectively close the strait.

Yes, but I'd expect the Israelis/US to know where the missiles sites are and to have taken them out of commission.

If the Iranians have copied the Chinese and put them in 40ft containers. The US would have to hit every container within 100km of the Strait. That could be a very large target list.

I think to a large extent how all this will play out depends on what capacity Iran actually has. Are they using everything they have currently? Or are they merely sending up an array of cheaper expendable crap to use up all the ammunition for defensive batteries etc. then once that's played out start sending up the bigger missiles which have potential to cause all manner of headaches and send every regional ally screaming at Trump to find any resolution? I don't see the UAE tolerating shut downs to its airport / airspace for longer than a week or two.

Still think Trump has f***ed himself on this. There's a tiny chance this will work out well for him and about a million ways it will go to shit. He's gonna need to work out a way to suspend the mid-terms very soon cus good old three time Trump voter Dixie Dennis is never going to be convinced to patriotically support about another foreign quagmire when inflation and gas prices are surging. Self-interest is absolutely going to override the cult on this one.

I'm not sure what artillery they have, but with 100m of elevation you could visually target a ship on the other side of the straight. It's only 50k or so wide for a long way.
