Thinking of giving a gravel bike a crack

Gravel bike got a glowup, new wheels, rattlecan paintjob and upgraded groupset.

The fact the seatpost keeps slipping, even with carbon paste (the gritty stuff)! Apparently it's a known issue with the Norco steel frames.

I've ordered a Hope QR seat clamp as these are vice-like apparently!
Hey @Hambo how did you go with this, did it resolve your issue?

After being injured on and off since I got my Search, I finally started riding it again and I’ve been trying to dial in my fit, only to find that my seat post has actually been slipping too. I’ve got a new collar and carbon paste on the way and from talking to a guy at work who has the exact same model as mine, he had the exact same experience so he swapped out the collar with his wife’s bike and never occurred again and she has no issues, so hopefully it will be the same for me.

The Hope QR seat clamp made a huge difference, zero slippage for me!

Like you said it’s a known issue and so many people have the same problem but it’s just the seatpost clamp from what I could gather. So not sure if it was spec issue with that clamp as when I removed mine it had 30mm printed under it and from what I could see it’s supposed to be a 29.8mm.

Anyway I have the wolftooth coming in the mail which is 29.8, as they don’t do a 30mm plus Park grip paste for some extra insurance, so hopefully that will fix the issue.

I bought a 29.8mm one and it still slipped.

Fark don’t tell me that

What size is the Hope as I’ll keep it in mind as a fall back plan.
I have the same problem after using a shim (27.2mm to 31.8mm) so I could use a suspension post in my hard tail. The shim was aluminium and so nicely machined that even though it had ribbing it was still "slippery". I didn't have any paste and didn't want to loctite so I tried, sanding, putting electrical tape on an off, even little strips. Nothing worked but then I stuck a taillight on it with a rubber spacer. It hasn't moved since!

Post surgery I have been doing some very sedate trails and bike paths but a tiny bit of seat cush is keeping things comfortable. Otherwise I found myself regretting every bump after an hour.

I also have a Thomson seat post coming, so between that, a new seat post collar/clamp and some Park Tool carbon paste I’m hoping it will stay put, as I’m pretty sure it’s what triggered some of strains of late, due to previous injuries and current medical conditions, it doesn’t really take much of anything to take me out these days, probably more of a thing for YKWYGO thread
