This would make the BFe bottom bracket height pretty high compared to the Honzo...

Yup. Higher than most endurbro hardtails. All the better for manuals and pumping.

Or a very lightly used bright yellow Cotic BFeMax locally for $700. Both good options, the Honzo might work better for this though.

I think I've seen that Cotic as well on one of the local for sale groups. It looks tempting as I love steel hardtails, but I'm not sure whether I need a new frame or divorce as buying the frame would probably end in the other...

I'm thinking of a theme. Its a British Racing Green and Gold frame so my usual favourite blue won't work.
