Really? I've never got mine tight enough to stop all movement if you rock back and forward. And has been the same across two different wheelsets.

Sounds similar except we like to travel and perhaps eat out (sushi etc) a few more times a year. I agree with your lifestyle, a lot of people are caught up in one-upmanship or being something they're not. I like that we can afford to go camping or go on the odd snorkelling adventure.

I took the wheel apart, removed the cups and cones, removed the axle (cleaned and greased now!). I can't work out where that movement is coming from or even if it's always been that way. The clicking noise has coincided with that issue.
Then wouldn't the rotor move too? There is zero movement from the rotor.
It's moving the rotor on the hub. Maybe get yourself a tension wrench so that you don't under or over tighten anything.
