Hopefully quick….

Getting a chain slap type sound on new (to me) bike. It’s got AXS x0, and I’ve never had sram running gear before. I _think_ it’s just the derailleur cage bouncing around, but looks like no adjustment on clutch. Still need to get one of the kids to slo-mo video it to be sure.

Is this common or normal? Fixable without new derailleur? Only seems to happen when I really slam the rear wheel down, like a jump or drop to flat. Could be kickback related? Too many different opinions when I hambo.

2nd-hand info only, a lot of people do seem to comment that the AXS clutches were pretty weak.
 
Ive generally found sram clutch to be quite effective. Are all the relevant bolts tight? Is the wheel mounted/aligned correctly? The freehub and cassette all good? Chain length is ok?

Looks to me like it’s a weak clutch. Chain even fell off the chainring this time. Guessing my slapping sound is the chain and/or derailleur snapping back after it extends.

Some sort of chain guide might help with drops. But are sram clutches usually this weak? Or do I need a new one.

Have you thought about a new bike?
 
Looking for recommendations for somewhere not too dodgy (close-ish to Archerfield QLD) to stay that is near some restaurants/food (walking distance to the foods).

Yeah, guess it was a bit cheeky. I think the young folk call it a soft launch.

But not my build, so not showing it off as pyr. Once I get a few little things sorted I’ll take a photo or two.

Had all the same ideas as poods. Just didn’t want to admit it. Bike is otherwise super quiet, so the noise is annoying. Chain length and derailleur setup is all fine, Checking out chain guides. Not sure how to test front chainring wear. Haven’t checked chain wear yet either.

Probably overthinking it all too. Not enough riding time means too much thinking time.
 
Currently being bombarded with advertisements for Inflato (phone sized battery powered bike pump)...has anyone used it? Looks like it would be much lighter than the 3 co2 cylinders etc I carry in my backpack.
 
I have a couple of mates that use 'em. They are very small and light, and do the job despite the fact they sound like an out of control vibrator
