The QUICK question thread.....

Down on the left!
Are you confident all the strands of the old inner came out of the outer and all of the strands of the new inner came through the outer? And you have correct routing of the cable through the derailleur?

I have has a couple of strands from the inner get unwound and jam inside the outer before, and I have definitely not correctly routed cable through a derailleur once or thrice.

Oh and...is the cable firmly secured to the derailleur? That's another favourite of mine. A lift turn of the hex key to position the cable while I fidget and then forget to finish the job properly...
Did the little noggin thing on the end of the cable fully drop into receptacle (technical term, lol) in the shifter? I've ballsed that up on Shimano shifters a once with similar result.
So replaced the inner and outer and had a good look and appears I tightened down an external alloy cable guide slight twisted and essentially crimped the outer creating a tight spot. Never come across that one before.

If I pack a frame when I fly to Adelaide, separate package. Will they charge me bike transport cost or just include it in my luggage allowance? Cheers

There's usually an oversized baggage fee, along with the checked in baggage cost. Depends who you fly with as to how they'll work it out.

Depends who you fly with. I've flown a bike and snow gear (both oversized and both sporting items) domestically with Qantas, jetstar, and Virgin where the items have just been classed as my checked in luggage and I incurred no additional fees. I haven't flown with a bike since the end of 2020. Last domestic flight with snow gear was August and September 2022.

Damn, looks like I will just post it to save the hassle. Cheers
If you are under your total checked baggage weight with the frame in box and your checked bag it shouldn't cost you anything. 5kg frame, 5kg box, then 10-15kg checked luggage depending on what your limits are. Pack the frame as small as possible and they might take it through at the desk, worst you'll have to take it to the oversize desk.

You have 7kg carry on as well.

Do you reckon if I bubble wrap it and tape a handle to it I'd get away. Just a thought

As long as you are not over total, it should be fine. Bubble wrap and tape a black bin bag over it, plenty of black bag wrapped shit going around the carousel when picking your luggage up.

No...just get a box you can fit your frame, some padding (or just bubble wrap the frame), and then stuff your luggage in with the frame (I'm assuming it is generic travel stuff like clothes and dildos). My assumption is the frame I staying in Adelaide, so toss a bag in the box as well for your gear once you don't need the box anymore. Happy days and super easy. Whenever I have travelled with a bike as much of my clothing and miscellaneous items as possible end up in the box.

Did fivetens go to crap and get bought out by someone?

Bought by Adidas. The couple of pairs I have don't seem much different.

NZ with Qantas a few years ago just before covid lockdowns and bike was included in luggage, my partners bag was packed with my clothes etc as my bike bag was my allowance.
