The last movie you've last watched last

There's a thread tangent in the making...

Who are people's favourite actors/actresses/actorpersons?

For me, probably Anthony Hopkins as favourite actor for the constant hint of theatre and wonderful elocution - but most of all the restraint he can exercise in a scene (see also Tommy Lee Jones in No Country for Old Men). The Westworld TV series is peak Anthony Hopkins IMO (even though series 2 & 3 are pretty weak). ...and not because of the Anthony Hopkins tie to Silence of the Lambs, but Jodie Foster fucking inhabits a role too. I enjoyed her "boss bitch" role in Elysium for example.
Bryan Cranston. Cemented by Breaking Bad, but also small bit parts he’s popped in like Lincoln Lawyer where he just owns whatever he does. Done some funny skits I’ve seen in YouTube too.

But mine main faves have been mentioned already.

Can’t go past Anthony Hopkins. Goes from menacing in Silence of the Lambs and Fractured to loveable in Worlds Fastest Indian.

Tommy Lee; The Fugitive, Under Siege, Blown Away, No Country etc.

Tron was actually alright - I mean the story isn’t anything but go for the sound track and visuals on the big screen and its pretty fun.
Yeah I agree. I did prefer the last one, but this has a lot more cues from the original.

When I was illegally working for Woolworths as a trolley boy at age 12 years and 11 months in 1993, I was doing the rounds looking for trolleys to return to the store in Bowral (yuppy infested boredom trap that place). Underneath the cinema at the rear was (maybe still is) a small coffee shop. I've recently watched Silence of the Lambs and even as a young dude it totally grabbed me. I knew a hot babe that worked in that coffee shop so I usually slow down to try to spot her curly hair. Sitting in the shop all by himself wearing a wide brimmed hat and lightly tinted sunnies was Anthony Hopkins. I saw him, kept walking a bit then stopped and turned aghast. That fucking guy looked over his glasses right into my soul with "that look" on his face than Hannibal does. He sorta grinned and put his finger to his mouth implying to politely shoosh. Not one person believed me until a week later another girl that worked at Woolies said she saw him and he chatted to her and her hot Mum. So ner. The real moral of the story here though folks is I never got to show that babe that worked at that coffee shop what a near 13 year old youth was hopefully capable of............

Yeah it was pretty weird, there was a moment when I thought hang on there’s a twist here and I’ve been had, but nah.

I’m not really a NC fan, I liked him in Raising Arizona and I liked him as a vampire. But most of the time I just can’t buy what he is selling.

Yes, strange movie, not the greatest for sure
go watch 8mm for decent nic cage stuff!

I shuffle between a few of the apps during the year depending on what I want to watch. I've reactivated Disney Plus to watch the Alien Earth series this week. My wife isn't going to watch that show so we trawled through the list of other TV series to find stuff to enjoy. It kinda dawned on my real quick that these apps are just completely full of shit TV shows. The more apps that are created, the worse this rubbish will get. Honestly, there is ten tenths of fuck all that I want to watch on these things. I'll shuffle through a few of the good movies then can the whole lot of them. We need quality over quantity, not badly acted and badly written rubbish.

Anyone got any series to recommend? Lets say I like a good crime kinda drama leaning towards the thriller kind of thing. I'm not really into the supernatural kind of shit but more so a good cop investigating story that doesn't drop some last minute reveal that changes the whole outcome in the last episode.
Good shows I've enjoyed:
Luther
First few seasons of Criminal Minds
Mr Inbetween
Letterkenny
Some of the Aussie mystery shows
Andor
Jack Ryan

Shows that are fucking shit:
Lost
Any shit cops show made in Los Angeles
Most of the modern Star Wars stuff (minus a few standouts)
I won't watch any Marvel TV series either

Any suggestions

Slow Horses on Apple TV is great. Skews more towards comedy than thriller.

Mobland is pretty fun, typical ridiculous Guy Ritchie stuff.

On your list of things you've enjoyed you haven't mentioned True Detective. If you like crime/thriller, season one with Matt McCounaghay and Woody Harrelson is one of the greatest pieces of television ever made.

If you don't mind subtitles, the Danish version of The Killing is great. Fortitude season one was good and scary as fuck, got a bit silly in the following seasons.

The percentage of crap goes right down if you include older shows which you have to go looking for as they don't feature them on the lists that get presented to when you start up the apps.

Recent stuff in various genres I've really enjoyed lately which may or may not appeal; White Lotus, Bad Sisters, The Studio.

Mobland is borderline a guilty pleasure, but I enjoyed it a lot. So stupid.

Adding to the above list; Mindhunter is f***ing awesome, and Black Bird is a spiritual successor albeit only a miniseries. True Detective S3 is a decent return to form, not as good as S1 (although what is). Season 4 (Night Country) is a weird and flawed, but still better than any current mainstream detective drama.

Cheers Gents, I forgot to add I love the Guy Ritchie stuff. And true Detective; its all class and I was pumped on Night Country going back to that gritty kind of stuff.
Mindhunter looks good, I'll suss that out for sure.

@Dozer,
Mate I just started re watching the original Underbelly series on Stan as the missus hadn't seen it. It's good, especially as its all local. Also there are are bunch of spin-offs that I was unaware of so probably 3 seasons worth off stuff to watch.

Stan has been my favorite of the lot actually. We've watched most of the Underbelly stuff over the last few years again, that was some good Aussie TV.

@Dozer You should try this series called game of thrones. It captivated the whole world with its great story telling.

You're taking the piss right? You must know how much I did not rate that show. Minus the naked Sheila's and a bit of blood & guts; that show was fucking horrible :D

Ludwig was on 7 / 7 plus I enjoyed it and second series is coming
