Hurts. Requires Money. And is nerdy.

I really enjoyed them after giving up on the build a bear demon prince faction, god damn what an shit legendary lord he was.
Armoured Kossars are like lothern seagard on steroids!
Spamming them made for an easy campaign. And who doesn’t like giant polar bears?

But yeah Slanesh will be fun. Their campaign abilities are hilarious and the glass cannon armies look awesome. Will be giving them a go once I’ve finished up my Khorne playthrough. I’ve got Skarbrand running around by himself atm absolutely stomping the empire in the south. It’s really satisfying having a maxed out lord just soloing full stacks.

No riding this long weekend meant a bit more time for Gran Turismo 7 than planned. Initial thoughts:

  • It's much harder (yay - single player campaign was largely a walkover in GT Sport)
  • The driving model is less forgiving (can't collect slides with a lazy stab of countersteer - will most likely spit you in the other direction)
  • Some of the upgrades are pretty cool (can flare guards and option wider wheelbases etc. for stance points, also get rid of obnoxious wings)
  • Car selection is better thought out with a proper new / used car selection and a lot of hints there's a lot of really cool stuff hidden away that you have to work towards

Less good stuff:
  • Prices are pretty out there. Formerly cheap JDM stuff is now uber expensive
  • There's a weird "story" collector mode you have to do that makes more sense as it goes along but a) forces you down a very linear path initially and b) is pretty rubbish to start with.

so, realistic then?
Yeah that was my first thought but they're not messing around - a final gen RX-7 is considerably more than a 997 GT3. R34s are terrifying.

Although there was a tasty Evo V sitting in the used car lot last night. Miley and needs work but could be worth a go....

Do the wingless conversions make for slower times?
Do you have it hooked up to a wheel setup? (Ive been watching the Logitech gear, comes up on Ozbargain every now an then for decent prices)

I've done the wheel setup thing in the past and found it a bit of a slippery slope - you can't just have the wheel and pedals, you also need a proper rig set up (trying to play it on a desk or coffee table doesn't work imo)., seat, mounts etc. and suddenly you're looking at thousands of dollars and your girlfriend gets pissed off with you for having an large unwieldy cockpit set up in the living room for some reason. Could've tried just building one myself I guess but I'll slum it with a controller for now :)

Unsure about whether wingless makes them any slower, only taken a small lip spoiler off a '68 Camaro so far and willing to bet that was just along for the ride.

ive used my old g27 for years now, $100 on a gt art wheel stand makes a huge difference. you can firmly set everything in place with no sliding, and getting it all setup is simple, just lift the stand in place and plug in the power and usb. before it was clamp streering wheel, clamp gearstick, try and find something to prop behind the pedals so they dont slide. I'd love to get the seat attachment to make a proper cockpit but so far was $100 well spent.

I keep looking at fanatec stuff which i am sure is great, but to get just 1 wheel, base, pedals and shifter its around 2K, hard to justify.

I run a full cockpit setup (seat, frame, pedals, wheel, gear stick etc). It's awesome, makes the game so much more enjoyable. I've always had them for as long as I can remember.
As for GT7; I bloody love it. I love that it's not easy, the campaign is cool and the car handling mechanics are fun. The snap oversteer in some cars is good in the way that it forces you to add upgrades and tweak your setup and driving style to counter it; call it simulation to a point. My Wife walked past and had to look twice as she assumed I was watching a helmet cam, it looks that good.
I am still shitted off about two things that have carried over from Sport though: There aren't enough Daily Races and the differences in car performance sucks. For fucks sake gimme modes that are set to no assist (ABS, traction control etc) instead of getting smoked by rookies using all the assists.
All in all though, there's enough in the campaign so far to keep me pumped on it.

Yep, Forza would pay you more money for results for switching all the crap off which was something. But an actual series where they couldn't be used would be great, was really obvious most people were using at least T/C in online races in GT Sport.

So great the campaign is no longer just win everything but a real challenge to get a podium now.

I used to game a fair bit but now with family and bikes I just don't have time any more. Still play Clash of Clans though :p

Holy shit, just got my first demon prince soul. EPIC!

Skarbrand is my freaking nemesis. But he always get spanked for being too cocky. He thinks he can steamroll one of my secondary lords until I call up a devotee army out of thin air.
