I've always loved the ending of Early Warning by Baby Animals

Baby Animals and The Superjesus were two really great bands that I wish did more than they managed.
Suze's voice is fantastic, it does things to me, and Sarah Mac has just as much attitude! Always thought Baby Animals had too much talent to just fade out like they did.

A few of my fave big finishes.

Was out the back with my young fella giving the old hifi gear a run and we tuned the radio in about half way through this. Much jumping around and air guitar was had. Hoping he didn't really notice the swearing due to frenetic pace of it all.

One of these days is a hellova track, always argued with myself which version is better - orig or live.

IMHO there is no argument.

Bands, the ones that are compiled of musicians, hone their skills in a live setting and write their songs to be played in a live setting, as such the live versions are usually better whilst the studio versions become a study in a technical error free style devoid of the whole point in playing with other band members.

Comparing a studio version to a recorded live version gives some insight, but experiencing gilmour get that fattest of fat sounds first hand, well there is no comparison.

The fact that the musicians themselves can still get a kick out of playing a song they wrote, refined, recorded and have played live innumerable times is testament to the fact that live is where its at.

Saw Clutch at either Meredith or Golden Plains one year ... they were pretty awesome. 'Electric Worry' is my fave of theirs - less 'big finish' and more a seamless transition into 'One Eyed Dollar' though. 10001110101 is pretty good too.

The Gomez track 'In our Gun' is kinda 'big finish' territory. In fact it's a complete change of tempo & feel, going from predominantly acoustic guitar & dbl bass to all electric guitars - almost like 2 tracks joined together. I saw them do it live once and two of them switched guitars during the long guitar fade at 3:30. They tore it up for about another two minutes to a greater extent than the album version here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCy0AzWQyUM

Would've been Meredith, cause that's where I saw them! Only got 'Beale street to oblivion', but love them nonetheless. BEST...FESTIVAL...EVER. Err....sorry, back on topic.

Wow, thanks for that. Haven't heard One of these Days for ever. Meddle is an exceptional album & the Live from Pompeii video, which featured most of Meddle + embryonic Dark Side, is amazing. Tough call.

You're quite correct of course, best festival ever. With regards to Clutch, if you can remember if it was at Meredith or Golden Plains, you probably weren't at either.

Yeah, it sure is & if we were to be honest about big finishes there would be quite a few other amazing Pink Floyd songs worthy of mention. So thankful to have grown up listening to Pink Floyd- Dad had bloody good taste in music. Once they'd hit their stride after Syd's death they really did write & design music that was meant to be performed as a giant soundscape to a live audience. While I love all of Floyds work I could never really get into the pre-Gilmour period their music.

Yeah, I'm a monster for Clutch. Ridiculously talented band. Haven't caught them at a festival yet but I do make a point of getting to all of their side shows when they're in Melbourne. Their gig at The Palace late last year was off-tap, especially when they dropped Electric Worry/One Eye Dollar: beer & spittle flying through the air as the crowd convulsed & hollered through it all. Fucking rapturous!

Must have Clutch albums:
Elephant Riders
Blast Tyrant
Robot Hive:Exodus
From Beale St to Oblivion
Strange Cousins From the West
Earth Rocker

Agreed, especially where floyd is concerned. Never liked The Wall album, hated the "film" (although I may have had more time for it if I'd seen it before I knew what a todger Geldoff is) but cannot get enough of the live concert video.

I find its why I can't stand a lot of modern over produced crap. It's actually unplayable in a live performance situation.

Dark Side is pretty much the gospel of big finishes. great gig in the sky, with Clare Torry's vocals is classic, although somewhat ashamedly, I prefer the Sam Brown version from the PULSE tour.

Also a big bones for David, I doubt they would have any success on a second album if Barrett hadn't blown a head gasket. Pure psychedelic didn't have much legs, but the progressive sound they evolved.

There's a reason Dark Side of The Moon is considered the greatest album made, ever.

Really interested to see what they can do with The Endless River. The Division Bell was good, but it'll be interesting without Waters' more theatrical influence.

Sorry, masturbation session over.
