Am I bad for perhaps being a little happy when Geriant hit the tarmac as it might give porte team support, but the tough wale is back in the peleton so now I just feel guilty

We'll see if he starts tomorrow. Good chance that collarbone is cracked. Neither G-man nor Richie can stay healthy and unbroken for three straight weeks.

Ewans crash was nasty, made me wince just watching it. I hope that lycra has a kevlar layer or there is going to be some skin off.
T'was brutal, made all the worse by being in sight of the finish line.
The SBS team was laying a lot of the blame for crashes (not Ewans) on the course, but I'm not convinced; most of it to me looks like riders just not being switched on when they need to be. I do wonder whether within the peleton there was a feeling that this year it could be anyone's race, and they are all a bit more regressive because of it.

I've got a mate who is currently riding in the Pro ranks (and the tour)

Apparently the younger generation are all able to win from day they enter the elite field now. This means there is a lot more people willing to risk it for glory and they are also less inclined to fall in line with what the older/wiser riders want them to do.

That last 20km was hard to watch. Caleb Ewan at full tilt and Jack Haig laying on the deck for a while were the worst. Must commend Peter Sagan's crashing technique; he didn't let go of the bars at all during that tangle with Ewan, probably saved himself a collarbone.

Lachlan Morton didn’t get a spot on the EF team so is riding the Tour by himself (with camping gear). Also riding the kms between stages, doing an extra 1000+ kms.
Respect. I'd love to see an amateur version of Le Tour where it really is rider vs rider. They were talking about salary caps in cycling in the lead up to this year's race. Some of the big teams have triple the budget of the smaller ones.

I always thought Cav was a bit of a cunt, & given to overly aggressive and dangerous riding, but he won that sprint fair and square.

He seemed genuinely humbled and overwhelmed by his win. good on him.
He's always come across to me as a bit of a cocky prick, but some of the tales about how where he came from and what he had to do to get where he is explains it a bit. Pretty typical "you said I couldn't and look at me now" attitude, especially in the early days. But he started to show his appreciation to those who were helping him later in his career.

If this is real it will be interesting to hear what her defence is.

Now they've caught her, individual teams will charge her for damage.

Her life is over.

good. I hope they make an example of that selfish little shitstain.

Spectators at the Giro d'Italia this year had the right idea. some loose twatwaffle was interfering with the riders on a climb. the other spectators yanked him off the road. no-one needs that idiotic shit happening.

After his 'outstanding' performance in the time trial stage 5, Tadej pogacar seems more and more like he is too good and too fast to be riding clean, IMO.
Stefan Kung's reaction to Pogacar smashing his time by 20 odd seconds was the most telling, to me.
& Stefan Kung is the current European TT champion. Usually, the TT specialists are the ones that win grand Tour Time Trials.

Linked below is an article about last year's TdF.
The Article mentions that Pogacar's team is managed by former dopers. That isn't conclusive by itself, but it doesn't remove the suspicion that sophisticated doping may be happening by riders in the team, especially given the improvements of Pogacar's performance that appear too good to be true.

As Sir Wiggins said, the TDF is all about the crowds, its a spectators sport for the masses.

Rather than restrict/restrain the crowds with barriers and the likes, get a culture of the crowds policing themselves. If someone is doing the wrong thing, the crowd needs to pull them back into line.

Fining this woman may help to kick this off even know there has been many cases in the past, this one was a badly though out grab at a selfie for Grandpa.

FYXO not wasting any time on a new t-shirt design.

They might say it's "ironic" but I think it just perpetuates that selfie-at-all-costs bullshit.
