STP Questions and What Size?

Hey guys,
Recently I have done a couple of Dirt Jumping sessions on my friends STP and I've decided that I want a dirt jumping bike that is versatile and is good for pretty much everything except downhill as I have a downhill bike. My friend has an 13.5" STP O 2007 model and it feels really good. I've only got about $600 to spend at the moment but I can get a stock 14.5" 06 STP 0 for $600. It is in good condition and $600 seems a good price as most STP 0's are going for about $1100. So firstly do you think it is a good starter DJ bike that is versatile? It has a fairly solid spec list from what I know. The other question is do you think that the larger frame will feel funny as I'm only about 175ish cm tall but I do prefer bigger bikes as I'm use to downhill bikes. So what do you guys think?
I have searched but it didn't come up with much so any information would be great,

I'm 180cm and I have just picked up an 06 STP 1 (lrg 14.5 inch (Perfect size I've riden 13.5's and after a few hours I get cramped) and it's awesome. $600 for a zero I'd almost be inclined to get it myself.
 
I'm roughly your height and i recently bought an STP1 08 (large). I find it is the perfect size for me, anything smaller and I feel very uncomfortable and cramped.

yeah i got an 07 STP in 14.5 and its sik, im 180cm and i wouldnt have anything else now, my brother has got an avanti limited, that frame is long(not sure about cm's but is called long) and im too small for that, but man i payed $1800 for mine so yeah get that. at that price if anything is stuffed you can afford to replase it.
 
Yep ride a 13.5 here and I'm 169cm. Probably wouldn't want it much smaller than that. But I do use mine for XC and starting to do some DH on it too.

My husband is about 172cm and has longer legs / arms than me, so going by what I'd put him on I reckon the 14.5" should be pretty good for you, particularly as you have said you like bigger bikes, go for it $600 is a steal - just make sure it hasn't got any cracks or something:eek:
 
I'm 176cm and I ride a small.
The large is too long and awkward for me. I've done everything from street and DJ, 4X racing, to long all mountain rides on it and it works just fine.
 
I guess the siziing is just personal preference (sp)
I used to ride an STP 13.5 inch and im 6"1' , i found it really nice to ride and easy to flick around. I probably wouldnt have gone the large in my case but as i said it personal preference.

600 bucks for an 06 STP 0 is a great deal and I would highly reccomend buying it!!

I'm pretty convinced that the STP is a good versatile bike and would be just what I want. I also now think that $600 is a very good price as the cheapest I've seen an STP 0 that I like is $1100. As for sizing, I'll ride the large and if it feels uncomfotable I can just sell it and buy a regular. Thanks guys and any other information would b appreciated.
 
hey, i ride 14.5 and my mate has a 13.5, i feel that the 13.5 is easier to throw around and bunnyhop etc... my 14.5 is still great for me i am around 165cm tall.:D
