Shorts - The struggle is real

It's a sad reality, but it's not everyone, just most people. I'd pay $200+ for a quality pair of shorts. NZ is local enough for now.
It really is. We used to have such an amazing manufacturing industry.

NZ have access to plenty of sheep and plenty of companies that turn it into fantastic clothing.. Why Australia decided to export our materials and import pretty much everything is well beyond my understanding of economics.

I've spoken with numerous Aussie clothing manufacturers and most import their fabric and the very few that use local material, such as merino, charge a premium that makes it unrealistic to retail.

The sad reality is even the big companies have gone cheaper and cheaper with their manufacturing and materials but continue to charge more because of their logo.

It's Not Easy Being Green
I've got a pair of the shorts @nathanm linked to above and I can recommend them.

Good size, stretchy but wear well.

For reference I'm a touch under 6 foot 3 (about 189cm) and they sit basically right on the kneecap.

For 50% off I'd be jumping on a pair!

These are the dark grey.

I just wear Dickies shorts or mountain design shorts, just been to the opp shop and got some nice macpac shorts.. but I don't own any riding specific cloths as such.
Not going to pay someone to promote their brand.. still waiting for sponsorship haha

I'm currently wearing a pair of light weight stretchy shorts from Sendy. Yes...it's a bit of an embarrassing name, but they were on sale and looked like the lenght I like (just past my knees). Anyway got hem ages ago, lost them in the garage, found them, an today for the first time.

Fuck me! These shorts manage to have no room for my legs, arse, dick, or balls while firing my waist nicely...but then also sliding down constantly.

Yes, its a shit name but I also have a pair of them and they are bloody good shorts, until someone is following you and the hem of your jersey rides up and reveals 'SENDY' for them to shout repeatedly.

On the plus side, I copped out on a huck in Maydena, maybe on Gnar Yeah or something, slid down on my ass and half scuffed the logo off.

No idea how they used to fit you, still fit your waist but don't fit your ass, legs and bollox, sounds like you have had a blow out... off to the confessions thread for you.

Never worn them before! I think I ordered them a few years ago.

No blow out, been on no pie no pizza life for a while now. Just have odd proportions. The weirdest bit about not fitting my arse is that I have no arse! Lucky these things have a lot of stretch. After a few laps in them I stopped feeling like I was wearing Lycra.

Ok, any new 'good' shorts out there.

I'm always looking but usually think they are too long, too baggy or dont have enough pockets ?

If I could get unbranded SENDY, I would be happy, probably the best shorts of the last 5-7yrs.

Thinking about these FYXO Ardent MTB shorts, length looks like it will be good, wont be wearing them as tight as old gravel matey

These guys stuff is amazing - lasts forever and so comfortable- however I have not ordered any for a while as the freight prices from USA had gone stupid. - Also have not looked lately at what they offer

Baggies only @Minlak

I have enough bibs/Knicks to kit out a peloton and I dont even wear padded shorts anymore.

I like these, subtle on the graphics, similar to Dharco probably not as refined but they do last, I wear the olive ones almost every weekend around the house etc and they have a few stains but seem to just keep on kicking along.
Also they usually have sales towards Christmas etc, black friday or whatever it is.

Gonna get grilled for this but the Specialized trail shorts are great. Lightweight but still durable…crash tested and didn’t fall apart. Much nicer material than Dharco for example.
The Dharco long pants are sensational... The shorts are shit.
I took mine down to my local alteration lady and she lopped 7cm off each leg. To long, to tight, bell bottoms, bad ventilation and only 1 pocket.
