Sealant thoughts

Just wondering if anyone is using FMR sealant, supposedly it doesnt go off like Stans can and lasts longer.

Or are there other sealants around that are any better/worse than some?

Also are some affected differently by CO2?

I have Stans Crest/Apex, with Rons and about to go tubeless..would like to hear thoughts.

Thanks

I've experimented with most sealants, but haven't used the FRM stuff.

For me Stans is the best. I've never had it go hard, and it's never failed to seal any puncture, short of full blown tears.

That Aussie stuff (Spex I think?) is pretty good too.

Haven't used the FRM stuff myself but someone who had said it might as well have been milk and glitter.

I've been using SPEX sealant for a few years now and I find it works a bit better than Stan's, seems to last longer and seal better/faster

To date, I've used Slime, Geax Pitstop and Stan's. All of them provide the advertised service. However, the Geax stuff is the only one I'd use again as it seems to have a shelf life when opened. Slime is just that

I usually buy stans but can be swayed by sealant on special.

Have literally tried, Stans, E13, Joes, Muckoff, Orange, Peatys, Effito, Vittoria, Finish Line, Milkit, WTB... I'm sure there are some more that I cant remember, back to Stans, IMO its the best sealant hands down. Less mess, works better, lasts longer, easier clean up. Just ordered 2L from Germany.

Schwalbe Doc Blue is Stans so its the same if a better price.

I started with Stans then had Silka for a while which has these bits of carbon in it. It worked well but it's an absolute nightmare to get of you bike and any clothing it gets on and it only lasted a month or two before totally drying out. Got some Joes recently when the bottle of Silka ran out, because that's just what the local bike shop had. I did hear a while back that Joes is the same as Stans. Not sure if that is true, but it does look the same.

I quite like the Bontrager stuff and prefer it to Stans because it's got some rubber crumb in it which helps to plug larger holes.
I'm no Trek guy, but the Bontrager tyres and tubeless goo are not terrible.

Not a fan of stans. I find it lasts forever and less likely to clump inside the tyre, but it also doesn't seal as well, tends to leak and not hold pressure as well. I used orange which visibly sealed a lot faster (wouldn't keep in an open bottle well) but wouldn't last as long before it dried. Prefer that over lower sealing ability though.

I've recently been using Muc Off, I am not convinced it's good.
Seems to be quite a thick goo, so it sticks in random spots and then isn't where it's needed

A sealant that doesn't go off fast doesn't seal as well from experience. I use Mitus sealant and it's slow setting but I don't race so it doesn't matter to me if I need to stuff around on the trails but the small holes are no issue.

You are probably on the money there. The Silca sealant that I used dried out pretty quickly, but it did seal well. Ok for racing when you are whacking new tyres on all the time but a bit of a pain for the average punter. The Silca does have a replenisher liquid that is supposed to reliquefy the sealant after it dries up, but it's close to the price of the big bottle of sealant, and without popping the tyre off the bead, you can't tell if it actually worked or if more sealant is required. So, you may as well just add more sealant.

They are now on V2 with some changes. It now can be inject via the valve and non replenishes required.

Personally I think some sealants are thicker but dry up quicker.
Eg slime is effective but makes rubber balls.
The problems I see is that we all forget to add new sealant until the tyres go down quicker or the seal is knocked off.
Hardly ever see a flat but I carry a tyre plug kit.

OKO magic milk is pretty thick and it didn't dry out quickly.

Was probably the best one I've used since orange seal or stans
