Race officials say the cyclist suffered broken ribs, a fractured pelvis and a punctured lung. He was transported to a local hospital where he is reported to be in stable condition.

Oh yeah... Think he just fucked up, wasn't looking where he was going. Not as if the bend was hidden... Brakes looked to be working, up on the front wheel and hanging off the back, just way too late...

There was some comments from locals to the race I read on the original Facebook post - they reckon it's a blind approach and super steep. You have to know its coming or you won't have enough braking area to slow you down ( circa 15% gradient in the braking zone) which is why the first few guys seem to be going so slow.

Anyway, they shouldn't be mixing car and bikes with riders like that. If the car hadn't been there he'd have had at least another 20m of braking before he went off the end, or he could have laid it over and slid ( body provides more braking than tyre only)
