I think this was the only poster I ever bought (plenty of motor show giveaways as a kid):

Countach has a certain single-minded brutality to it I like, but the Diablo was far prettier - especially in the JOTA SE purple:

The F40 is still the best dream car I could imagine actually owning - including all the current hypercars which are sort of amazing and utterly bland and formulaic at the same time.

How many have gone for a drive or sat in a Countach? Just me by the sounds. Horrible horrible thing.
Countach is just a piece of shit. Modern Lambos are much better cars because they are essentially loud Audis.

Testarossa is just a weird car. Looks amazing but the handling is just pants, thanks to a flat 12 stacked on top of the gear box.

Dad had a 328 GTS and a Continental R. Werdly the 328 GTS was the more functional of the 2. Both were charismatic as fuck. Pity that my dad was a total deadbeat.

Mum had a 928 GTS that was light years ahead of every other sports car at the time. I then proceeded to bleed all over it when I ran through a very clean glass door at her friend's house as a kid.

Mum's friend's son was a total lunatic with a Tommy Kaira R33 in Taiwan. His dad drove the most boring E30 318 and a RUF BTR. The Tommy Kaira and the RUF were probably the fastest and yet most inappropriate cars ever for Taiwan, the ride on shitty Taipei streets was brutal. The surrounding mountain roads were pure terror.

840/850i is an amazing car if you can afford the maintenance which is outrageously expensive.

Modern AMGs are just weird noisy shit boxes. The ride is too harsh, they are too noisy and my R35 leaves them for dead. What's the point?

Haven't tried a modern M car.

When I was at festival of speed a few years ago it was a "celebration of BMW motorsport " so heaps of M1s, proper M6s and so on. Nice owners too who were happy to chat and show you their toys at very close range. 70s, 80s and 90s M cars are great things.
A mate has a new M8 comp which he rates over the outgoing Tycan from his fleet. Shit loads better than his E63s

Just thinking about the depreciation and service costs on an M8 makes me need to lie down.

Just saw the Top Gear AMG One video. 750k pounds to rebuild that formula 1 engine every 30,000 KMs.

Makes me appreciate the almost invincible R35 VR38DETT. My mechanic hasn't heard of one needing to be cracked open for any maintenance reason in Australia. Problems only seem to occur with heavy mods.

Got to drive one all of 2 km once. Was terrified.
My uncle had a paint shop specialising in prestige i worked at ...stripping /taping up/ refitting/detailing sort of stuff. During the Lemans race here in Adelaide some bloke had a scrape on the car ( someone keyed it) and wanted it fixed like STAT. I had to drive it to his hotel from paint shop.

JFC 1.5 million every couple of years just in engine rebuilds. Speaking of depreciation... It's almost like there's a reason no one's putt an F1 engine in a production "road" car before.

In saying that, the F50 did the same thing but they seem like a pussycat in comparison. Porsche also did something similar it with the 962.

I'm sure that Mercedes will sell every one of them, but if it was my money I would take a GT2 RS MR if I wanted a bonkers track car. I'm sure the Valkyrie and T.50 are amazing hyper cars but they would be practically unusable on the road and the GT2 would be the better track car, that you can actually race under FIA rules.

I still think the GT3RS is a better package. That turbo motor in the GT2 is almost like an old school turbo in its torque delivery. Scary to help! in 4 nanoseconds.
