Power distribution block, that’s a lead free soldered pcb, with tin whiskers causing intermittent power loss to subsystems and not triggering a single fault code. Even more fun when it the active sway bar hydraulic system that is fundamental to safe handling mid corner, what bmw calls dynamic drive. Basically a hydraulic pump that sends 2500psi to the sway bars, sway bars are split in half and joined by a hydraulic linkage, up till about 0.5G of lateral acceleration the car stays perfectly level.


Happens once every few months where system turns off randomly for a minute or two, sure makes things exciting.

I won't write a list of the hundreds of things that can easily go wrong with ICE engine that can never happen to an electric motor.

Seriously though, almost every classic car conversion where I've heard the owners talking about it has said it's the reliability of electric that is the game changer for keeping classics alive and driving.
Yeah but you need good speakers to make it sound like a real deal though.

No one will miss any v8 burble and braaaappppp noises after a performance with style.

Just found a JDM 2008 R35 GTR Premium Edition with less than 3,000kms on the clock and under $140k. It's bone stock and looks to be in as new condition. Japanese service book shows a service every 2 years until 2017. Not sure what happened after that.

I'm going to call the local GTR specialist tomorrow and I'm hoping he can talk me out of it.

I've actually got a good driving loop near me in a national park with a surprisingly high-speed limit for the difficulty of the road. The cost of Michelin Sport 4S tyres are going to be super awesome.

I've been somewhat inoculated by owning a Land Rover.

In all seriousness the car will get driven 1-2,000kms a year max so I might be able to get away with 1 service per 2 years.

OK, mine was to be a daily. Look at gearbox oil and rear differential change frequency and $. Engine oil looks ok once you get used to that. Brakes were an issue but there are aftermarket options that aren't $5k and tyres are like fuel, a consumable...

Early ones have the gearbox issues, it's not impossible to update them but as suggested the GTR tax is strong.
If you are in Melbourne I can put you onto a workshop which does most of the R35 boxes, other shops send them to him. It's not Race Pace.

it’s a great run through there. But the the beauty of cars is you can drive to all the good roads ahaha.
Run up old pac, out to singleton and back down putty rd, that’s a red hot run! Bonus points if your licence is intact afterwards.
