Project Car / Motorbike thread. Let's see 'em.

Precision are a very professional setup, the car would have been pretty easy to drive. The problem is driving the car at high speed on public roads.

Never for a second suggested it was the car’s fault. 100% user error.

Definitely not the cars fault. I'm just saying that driving a powerful car doesn't necessarily lead to high speeds. Most of the Porsche Cayenne GTS I've seen are driven by Asian housewives - very slowly.

So silly. Why risk you and your mates life like that?

I did a track day last Wed and took along some brand new Nankang AR-1 semi slicks. Had a great time and really got a lot out of the coaching on hand. Took 4 secs off my time from a fortnight before, which I was super chuffed by.

Managed to overtake most of the other cars in the Intermediate group including a GT4, M5, M3 Comp etc. But there was this one GTR that was on EPO. He (because track days are total sausage fests) underbraked into every corner and missed all the apexes by car lengths, but as soon as he got on the straight he just walked away from me. Even the instructor thought the car was crazy fast.

Full credit to the owner for polishing their skills on the track, I just hope he doesn't give that beast full gas on public roads.

That's part of the frustration with the xr4 at Lakeside. Slow on the straight but pretty decent through the bends. Get held up with slower lap time cars that accelerate faster. Ah well. I drove the newest gt2rs which only has 880hp in its current tune. That was too much for the road. Old school turbo set up though, lots of power then Holy shit tooooooooo much power.

let you google that for me
Can't wait for the incoming wankpanzer EV Hummers that weigh nearly 3 tonnes but can do 0-100 in 3 seconds.

Worse than that, I'm sure you've seen what occurred last night with the two young kids and I believe their uncle in Sydney.
Do what you want that is a risk only to yourself, but to risk other parties or kids is next level :(
Nope I've been hibernating for the last 18 hours. Got a link?

The new ev's have next level crashy crash avoidance .....although we have next level idiots , so there may be a ' levelling out ' of the playing field

adopt a wait n see approach

Ban low performance drivers, not high performance cars...
I would not be comfortable driving a car that powerful. I have not had the training or experience for it…

I am all for graded licences.
I listened to a Rusty's Garage podcast with Greg Murphy this morning and you could hear the absolute frustration in his voice. He's been lobbying the NZ Gubbermint to fix the problem at the source by training drivers to drive a car instead of teaching kids how to pass a test.

This can be double edged sword.

My best mate when I was 18 was sent on a course by his mother at Shepparton, where he learnt how to control a slide, spin, defensive driving etc. He could drive a car well, but I think it inflated his ego especially once he got his LC Torana, we certainly had some interesting times but he also was in numerous accidents always “not his fault” ;) Then again if hadn’t done the driving course things may have been a lot worse, including for me as I was his passenger a lot of the time.
Maybe his mum knew what he was going to be like and if he was going to be a dick, at least be able to drive properly.

Was the course called "Springnats"? ;)

Was mucking around with the beazer on the weekend, cleaned the points and got it to pop a couple of times then dumped a heap of oil on the garage floor. I was like FARK, then I remembered it runs a separate oil tank that is not there and I don’t think lines are plugged properly so I’m going to have to avoid temptation until I get a tank and hook up the lines.
So I removed the ape hangers, the tool box which had a wing nut on it which is aligned to the the kick starter, so yes I have two scratches down my leg that freaking hurt a lot, then I got those ugly mufflers off
I might have to invest in a bike hoist, as my back was killing me after stuffing around on it.

Hoists is cheap.

Back on the licence thing isn't sa looking to introduce a high powered car licence? From what I saw it started a bit high and misses pretty much all the stuff that can be in the hands of the common bogan. More like a wealth tax...

That’s less of an issue when the driving training is normalised and everyone does it. Like ze Germans.
