Had one of those cheap air compressor fed Venturi type vacuum pumps, and was only able to hold about 15-20 inch hg vacuum. So I still have air in it I guess - probably a bit of moisture too…. Low side was 30-35 psi which is way too high for HyChill.

Evaporator icing over on the trip down - stupid cold air for 20 minutes, then no air flow at all. Turn compressor off for 5 minutes, nice and cool as the ice melts, and the ac back on. Repeat :)

Time for a proper vacuum pump and regas it again!

Poor bloody Megane… Loaded it up with a massive roof pod and the cage trailer stacked up and drove to Melbourne. Massive southerly wind in Victoria coming into Melbourne and the poor thing was struggling to hold 100 and sucking down 15/100. Massive parachute on the roof and behind it!
Shoulda bought dual cab.

Merry fucking Xmas to you assholes
But then the 99.9999% of the time I’m not towing a big load I’d have to drive a dual cab around…. ewww. No thanks.
Instead you have a French car that has been put together with sticky tape and zip ties...

Neither do I. But I took meds on my last crossing, which wasn't as hectic as it could have been. Even with them, I was a bit queasy. Very glad I took them.

After years of procrastinating, I decided to get my motorbike licence.

Enter the errand mobile. Never thought you could have so much fun with 10hp. It also uses like 1.5L/100km wide open throttle everywhere. Its more fun than it should be.

Oh and it also cost less new with 12 months rego than a mid spec alloy MTB these days o_O

Threw it in the yellow Honda toy corner

Was totally fine. A bit bouncy after we left the heads, but a beer or two knocked me out and I actually got about 5 hours of sleep! Amazing.

Did make the effort to go out and stick my head over the side in the blowy bouncy bits which was fun :)

I watched the strait weather, saw you only had 1.5 m swells which is nothing.

We got lucky with our 3-4 m swells. I think it was the people crossing the night after that got their whole world turned upside down, and graffitied with vomit.

So the best French car specialist in Australia couldn’t find my idling problem either. Sigh.

Drove it back to Canberra today. It does the job but it’s down on power, gets rough and unhappy past 4K and uses a lot of fuel… Towing a laden trailer im down to 3rd and 60kph on some hills on the Hume, not ideal. But it will get the last load to Hobart (slowly…) and I’ll park it there and think about it more. Very much on my own here.

Guess the next step is get another flywheel and drop the gearbox to replace it. Sigh…

Or just drive it up to Sydney, park it on the northern beaches until it gets flooded and claim the insurance.

Time to upgrade to one of these bad boys.
Fits some wine, a baguette, and a roadie.

Or there's the economic electric car, quite the bargain
