Plastic bags, climate change, renewable energy,

The Duckmeister

Has a juicy midrange
The use of coal in Qld, NSW and Vic was all over 80% today, Vic has the wind up now.

We were only producing 180mw of gas fired generation today and of the total produced in the state with wind and solar, 150mw was going across the tie. SA was nearly running on rooftop solar, solar farms and wind most of the day. We were down on minimum load all day.

The Eastern states reliance on coal is massive.

Currently...

Might want to learn how to use the shift key... There is a fucking huge difference between mW and MW....

That's pretty much because we've all been stuck under cloud in a slow moving system that's not pushing much breeze.

Without a more diverse set of generation locations and generation options for renewables then we are never going to be able shake coal or even gas from the system as much as many would like.

N2O is a greenhouse gas, but its not a combustion by product. Nitrous oxides are formed when the nitrogen in atmosphere is exposed to the combustion event.

It is true the term NOx can include N20, but it is not the gas SCR systems are targeting.

SCR systems actually generate CO2 - they are a net contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. The IPCC has Urea Based Catalysts as a specific source catagory for reporting of greenhouse gas emissions.

They should start doing this here, even with the petrol street race boys that remove all the emission control gear from their cars.

"The stars of Discovery Channel's Diesel Brothers television show are being ordered to pay $851,451 for their role in producing and selling modified diesel pickups that wreaked environmental havoc in the state of Utah. David "Heavy D" Sparks, Joshua Stuart, Keaton Hoskins, and Dave Kiley—a.k.a. "Diesel Dave"—were the targets of a case that reached a federal judge after being initiated by Utah Physicians for a Healthy Environment. "

Yeah, its been great! Even funnier is all the idiots bleating about their "freedoms" and whatnot... Bloody americans...

I pulled up next to a Toyota 86 the other day riding home and told the owner his exhaust was toxic as hell. Asked him if it was a decat and he confirmed. Told him it sounded like shit but more importantly was stinky as hell - put the cat back on and tell your tuner he is clueless its running waaaaaaay rich.
