I have 2 questions for off shore wind, 1 if one of these things kills a whale will sea sheppard ram the shit out of it and 2 can fresh road kill or whatever the ocean version is be claimed 
There is lots of community opposition in the Illawarra. I recall the proposal for a chairlift on the escarpment was a no go due to the visual impact that would ruin the land scape. Now the same groups claiming this are happy with these things being so visible. I thought they were going to be pushed further out as to not be seen from the beaches.

how far away you can see big things.... 100m tall would just disappear below horizon at ~35km.. so for a 200-300m tall turbine at 25-30km offshore... you'll still easily see the lights at night.
have to be a loong way to not be seen at beach... there are papers on this sort of thing with pictures..

but since they are pretty good for tourism when they are not flying... maybe will help with house prices or whatever?
