Jason English on his way to racking up yet another solo victory at the 2011 SRAM Singletrack Mind Series

After conquering a brutally tough course in the Australian Marathon Championships, Jason English (Merida OnTheGo) added a second Marathon National Champions jersey to his collection last weekend. Having won two national championships in the past month, the Port Macquarie based rider is set to race this weekend's opening round of the SRAM Singletrack Mind series at nearby Taree.

It will be the first time a major state-level event has been held on the new course in Kiwarrak State Forest and the Manning Great Lakes MTB Club have been putting in a huge amount of work to ensure that the trails will be fast, fun and worthy of a World and National champion such as English. The 10.5km course uses just fraction of the trails available in the area – a destination well worth a full weekend's exploring.

The course, while reasonably flat, contains plenty of challenge, frequent passing opportunities and should make for flat-out, tight and competitive racing for the 7-hour race duration.

The event will also feature many highly credentialed riders sure to keep the heat on English and his new team OnTheGo also fielding 8 other athletes. The start line will also feature 2012 mixed pairs series champions Brent Miller and Brooke Rowlands, Open Solo champion Ed McDonald, and Solo Masters champions Garry James and Wendy Stevenson.

Entries for the opening round of the SRAM Singletrack Mind Series close at midnight this Wednesday night (24 April).
