New 2011 XTR and 2011 X.O

I don't particularly like the look of either of them. Interesting that Shimano is going 10 speed with XTR, XT and SLX. Hope this hasn't been posted already...

Gah. Twin chainrings up front is a nice option but seriously, do we need 10 down the back and the resulting super-skinny chain? I bend enough of them as it is.

Also, am I the only one who counts 8 rings on the SRAM cassette there?

I would love a mid-high end 8-speed groupset to use on commuting and other bikes. There's a weight saving from less rings, offset by a wider chain which weighs a little more and is a long longer lasting than 9 or 10sp.

Linking to other forums' passworded pics = not nice.

Those XTR cranks look sweet! I'm loving the chrome, and its good to see them going 10 speed with XTR, XT and SLX at the same time. No grinding away a $600 cassette in a muddy race.
It will be interesting to see if they are what the actual parts will look like. They've got 49 weeks to change them :p

I seem to count 8 gears on both rear sets. I think a 2X8 sounds pretty good, as long as you could select the range you want. Maybe a 12-36 rear with a 26-39 double up front would cover a good range for me.

Recount: XTR 10 speed.

Also looks like we will get 10 speed in both XT and SLX as well. But looks like only XTR gets the double fronts in various sizes. And the cranks on the XO set say "10 speed" so I don't think the XO set will be 8 speed.

When will they offer XTR in Di2 (the electronic shifting)? It's not that I want it, I just want it to exist.
