Just got my hands on a Mountaincycle San Andreas 2.0.

The frame is 6.5" travel in the rear.

Spec wise. I'm not settled, but the forks will be Marzocchi 55 TST2's, wheels hope hubs with Syncros rims.

Stoked with what was an impulse buy and the Battery I have will become a donor frame for most parts.

More shots to come as the build continues.

Wow!

Very jealous! I saw this thread and thought, bullshit! I remember the old monocoque ones back in the day. What a buy. A tip of the hat to you good sir. I look forward to seeing how this build progresses.

Massive fan of the brand (although its no proflex), was just disappointed at a lot of the slagging of the last management on mtbr. A friend in sydney was heavily involved in the design of the current range and a lot of what was being said and taken as gospel over at mtbr was way off the mark. Just a shame to see such a great brand go down the way it did.

I'm not holding my breath on the future which is why I snapped this up and have a Zen on the way. Would love to see the brand somehow dig itself out of the hole its in though.

Holy Jesus that looks unreal, absolutely love that!
Honestly, it looks better in the flesh. Just wish I could ride it.........getting desperate and have taken to chain-less runs down the street.

Lenny, the bike's looking great. We did not build up an all white one at last years Interbike, so yours is actually the first all white that I have seen good pic of. I would say it looks even better than I thought it would! Funny to think that when the bikes originally were previewed at the start of 2011, they copped a lot of flack as the design challenged a lot of preconceptions out there... as well as getting the back of a lot of the 'old school' owners up. Now that people are getting their hands on them and building them up, the comments are totally opposite. :eagerness:

My red/white arrives this week but I don't think it'll look as colour coordinated as yours!

I can say to anyone, if you want a brilliant bike at an insane price, grabbing either the Zen II or SA2.0 is a solid move. Granted, warranty will be zero but at the price they are being sold off at, some I know are looking at getting two. The suspension is by one of the industry's very best suspension design specialists and the amount of budget that went into getting these bikes done makes them an absolute steal.

Fatboyonabike, the DNA still looks the goods. Interestingly enough, in the aftermath of MC collapsing, I have teamed up with some of the guys involved in the design process of the MC bikes and we are working on a new monocoque design to be made in the antipodes!

G, I was toying with putting the while MRP Camber Cranks onr, but I think that actually takes the white colour scheme a bit too far.

I agree though, these bikes are being sold real cheap on US ebay by Crosslakes and are worth looking at. Just wait for the no reserve auctions to save a bit more.

Can't wait to see the finished new monocoque bike that is being designed, AU designed and made....sweet.

looks the bizz mate, can't wait to finish my Fury now!! Having the frame sent to Gripsport so John can weld on some ISCG tabs for my Hammerschmidt. My Shockwave is still waiting for parts although Rob the designer of the original Sanny reckons he might be able to help me out with my parts woes!

Finally, after what feels like an eternity the bike is done. Pretty happy in the end, but will make a few small changes over time.

Finally got the bike out today after weeks of waiting.

Didn't get the best ride in as the trails turned out to be soaked, turns out even after a few days of sun it was a lot wetter than expected and I probably shouldn't have been on the trails. Was good to inspect some of our recent works at Glenrock though after bad weather and a weekend of wheels. At to that, the rear brake literally exploded after 2km and dropped all its fluid.

Onto the bike. Rode really really well. Pedalled a lot better than I had expected and the suspension is pretty much not noticeable at all while pedalling, even up hill. Handling wise the bike is very nimble and the front end seems to float over the trail but still has plenty of feel when descending and cornering.

One thing that struck me, was the bike felt a lot smaller than it looks. The top tube that seems to put people off is not noticeable, actually some random even commented how much they liked it.

Very happy with the ride to be honest, if the Zen I'm building turns out to just be a smaller version of this I will be really happy.

this is where the brake finally packed it in, on top of the new Glenrock Trail Works.ride 4.jpg

After the brake dried and it was apparent the trails weren't good for riding, it turned out to be a good arvo for whale watching.

I think that is the most photographed spot in Glenrock.

160mm travel at the front end. I Think the bike is more AM than free ride, but that could well just be the way I have built the bike. Weight, at the moment hovering just over the 14kg mark. It could easily take a diet by changing the wheels and forks, both of which are on the heavy side, but it rides well and I had no issues climbing so I will leave it as it is......for now.

It didn't take long. Probably 5 days from memory, a big chunk of that was in Hawaii going nowhere. The tracking link they give you will get you excited enough.

pm me if you want, that would be grand.....i guess i will just have to put up with stromolo and the ridge for now, not heading up until sep!
