Mountain Biking Australia Magazine is finished. Thoughts?

Definitely should have gone to specsavers
I like Hardtail Party on Youtube, he's not afraid to say if a product is shit or not.

His last review is the Ragley Big Al ;)
I don’t mind Steve either, just an average joe giving it a crack, but tells it like it is.

I’ve got a secret man crush on Wil at Flow Mountain Bike too; his YT content is informative, but the delivery is next level - he’s just so deliberate and precise. He could be talking about toenail fungus for 15 minutes and I’d still be hanging off his every word.

All print media is in decline and I’d rather be saving my -$12/issue to spend on exorbitantly priced bike parts.

Looked at mtb mags in the library, very boring. Have some old magazines from before I mountain biked and they are great, loads of 26rs, yeah they even look different. I will admit that I like the bike and parts ads, such a choice

Feeling old
I subscribed to Revo for years
But then half the mag was devoted to emtb (which is fine, but not my interest)
Last time I picked one up it was close to $15 and I just couldn't justify spending that much
I do miss the days when I could sit on the shit house and read mtb mags (never big on MBA though - preferred AMB)
Now I sit there on my bloody phone and watch vids

Aside from an occasional purchase to flick through while travelling, I haven’t seen much value in mags since the Zapata Espinoza era at Mountain Bike Magazine ended.

Both he and Dusty Betty are worth watching.

Also, I had a subscription to a couple of ski mags in the early Eighties but they were just ads, mostly useless, not even useful for the long drop.

Thanks to @shiny for the heads up but it turns out the peeps ejected when Bikemag got scuttled a few months ago have a new thing - even launching a print magazine in March..

The guys at Bikemag were usually at pains to articulate why a bike was good / bad and usually had the chance to nick one for a few months and properly mess around with it to determine its strengths and weaknesses. Also pioneered the Bible of Bike Tests thing now shamelessly ripped off by Pinkbike. New thing will probably be pretty good.

Ha, same. Used to have an array of dog eared copies of AMB for quality toilet reading but also couldn't justify buying them when the content seemingly became 60% Merida E bikes.

Just as a side note, I took quickly bored of MTB magazines from Aus. but I also pass them on when I'm done having a squiz, so on the occasion I do find them interesting enough to purchase, they make it through a few sets of hands - worth the cost.

In the same breath I have recently subscribed to NZ magazines, maybe due to the landscape but it seems they don't have the same pages full of adverts we get hit with, yes they do have some ads but its not just the usual Giant, Trek etc. pages of glossy bike pics that just take up space, and I really like them for an informed read, the reviews are short and to the point, and then the stories are just amazing photos with a very nice travel journal feel, alot of it is set in NZ and a few features from Derby etc. But might be worth the look into.

The bonus is they are printed on nice stock, almost like a recycled paper, the page paper weights are heavier than most magazines. I know ages ago I looked into it and one of them mentioned going to a soy based ink but I'm not sure if that's happened as of yet.

This is not an ad, I just spend a lot of times perusing the next 'idyllic' purchase or getaway. And some of the shots in the mag can help you sell that getaway ;)

Hurts. Requires Money. And is nerdy.

Been subscribed to spoke for a long time now. They remind me a little of what dirt was like. Bang on about the quality of the actual magazine, they really are nice to pick up and read. Best mtb publication out at the moment IMO.
