bit of a surprise last night to get a message from my almost 60 year old 5 foot tall sister to show off the new vulcan 750 she'd bought. I knew BIL had a nice triumph and she had her limited licence in the UK, so now has to pass the next test. got to admit im a bit jealous, out near bath the B roads and cruiser in summer sound kind of nice

OK, I loathe the bars on the SV, so I'm changing them for something more old school that doesn't have my elbows stuck out there like I'm in attack mode all the time.
The switch-blocks have locating pins underneath to stop them rotating. The internet tells me, plenty of people file them down and then use tape on the bars to give the switch-block some grip. The left one I'm cool with that, but obviously the right hand one has to remain completely stationary because of the throttle.
Given it's a push/pull throttle cable and it has heated grips, getting it all perfectly in position, to know exactly where to drill is difficult, not un-doable, but difficult if you are not an octopus.

Get the Mrs out there or can you drop the cables and wires, mark it all in place then remove it and do it on the bench?

Yep, on the money... my middle daughter is very arty/crafty and she supplied the extra pair of hands and the white acrylic paint and tiny brush.
Sitting on the bike, I got the throttle and top half of the switch-block in position, and she dabbed some white paint on the locating pin on the bottom half of the switch-block, and then pressed it into place... voila, marking out perfection. Chuck the bars in my vice, centre punch the paint mark, drill, then replicate that same position on the left side, centre punch and drill.
They fitted up perfectly.
I have to wait for the glue to go off for the left hand heated grip, before I can try the new bars out... but they feel ace just sitting on the bike.

I still have a hankering for a Low Rider S Dyna FXDLS with the screaming eagle factory engine, youngest boy had a breakout for a while, he’s now regretting selling it, his had been cammed and went along rather nicely.

I have never been a “Harley” guy but I never hated on them - I appreciated them for what they are - and I firmly believe people should ride what makes them happy - I took the work demo breakout home and was sold - several of the guys at work suggested I try the street guide and the low rider as well but honestly they just do nothing for me - something about the look of the breakout juts has me salivating.
It rides great but it’s not a cornering machine and it wasn’t built to be one - I still have the FJR for aggressive cornering and touring.

Sold the Scrambler about a year ago which i had for 3 or 4 years, mainly to cruise around and to ride into work in. Was a 40th present to myself.
About a decade before that i had 2007 R1, tracked at Barbagllo and Eastern Creek, didnt have this for long as my first child was born not long after, hence the 10 year hiatus.
