Motorcycle Thread - Post it all

The Mrs doesn't like loud exhausts (to be honest I am not a fan either) but I do like a nice "tone" to a bike - The other day as we were walking through the shed to go shopping she goes "Whats in that box there?" - My reply "Its definitely not an exhaust for the FJR" and kept walking......

Haven't shown her the box yet that isn't an exhaust for the Tracer 7


Interesting aside happing too - The Tracer 7 has 2 Lamda sensors and every "Sporty" (non road use) exhaust now has the warning that unless you get it tuned you will get check engine lights when it senses there is not catalytic converter installed

I was watching a video from 2 wheel dyno works they are having trouble with their new KTM 990 tuning it as when they swapped exhaust even with sensors turned off they get a check engine situation as it cant sense a cat

Then the owner at work when I was telling him about it says that all of the Harleys we have been swapping exhausts on (cause no Harley goes out with stock pipes as no customer buys them unless they are ear bleedingly loud) have been throwing error codes and they didnt know why - It seems its all part of the Euro 5+ standards bikes have to adhere to know to be sold in Europe

You need a micro cat adaptor... Screws into where your lambda goes then the lambda screws into it.

The tread pattern on the road 6 looks good. Can see why they would be good in the wet.
I’m sure they will be fine and probably a smart choice for Tassie were we get 4 seasons in one day.

Funny you should mention that - the guy I rode with was on a 2019 FJR and when the big day of all twisties finished he said he was toy in 4th and 5th - I was mostly in 2nd and 3rd - we were trying to work out why I used so much more fuel than him :)

My shitbox used to to do 115 in 1st but I've changed the gearing for a harder launch and only get 90 now, I think.. I'm pretty busy.
2nd makes bang bang noises at 160.
Stupid rev limit.
 
So ordered a touring screen for the bike - Figured keeping wind off for winter would be good - Not sure I like it this tall or not now - Being dark as well it sits in my lower peripheral vision where the other screen just didnt exist - might get a sports screen instead.....

Part 2 - Wanted to change the rear shock to something more appropriate to my weight and more adjustable - Found a shock for a Tracer 7 GT 2026 model and messaged them top confirm if it would fit the NON GT version - they couldn't say yes and wanted me to take the shock out to measure it - Found out through other means the specs of the 2 bikes are identical so shock should fit and ordered $1300 shock.

Fast forward 2 days and decided maybe just do the front as well and look on website again only to see now they no longer list anything for the 2026 Tracers - i call them and he says oh we took them all down because you had pointed out they were different to the 2024 ones (the swing arm is 40mm longer on the 25 / 26) - So i said well hang on I ordered the Shock based of you saying the one you listed fits the 26 GT - their reply is no you told us you measured it and it will fit..... So now 4 to 6 week wait to see if I now possess a shock that wont fit - sigh

So, I'm loving Sven the SV650... although the suspension is wooden as f~ck, I somehow sense Gold Valve Emulators and a GSX-R rear shock in my future. The rest of the bike is wonderful, little, light, steers well, grunty as. It even pulled a power wheely off a bump coming off a roundabout this evening, just like my old 900 Monster did endlessly.

Anyway, this evening after a pint with some mates at Rosebud, I did Arthurs Seat on the way home, and I was really on... fast, smooth and very satisfying, nice. But that gets the cockiness up no end, and I was belting along at a serious clip down the other side... and suddenly two fricken huge roos bounded straight across in front of of me. Phark, I hit the 4 spots really hard and pulled the bike up to a dead stop. Took the wind out of me, only 20 metres short of catastrophe.

The weird thing, even though I clutched it, the engine stalled... and wouldn't re-start. It was showing an engine light, so I turned it off and tried again, no cigar. So I turned it off, turned off the heated grips, and waited a full minute. Vroom, back in action.

I've seen heaps of roos in that section before, and there are signs about them aplenty... I think I'l take heed going forward.

Pump could have sucked in a bit of air?

I once found my bike runs out of fuel sooner on downhill than uphill.. which makes sense to keep fuel at pump during accel... so fast decel and slosh forward could starve?

It could be, but the tank is maybe 3/4's full. Normally when you turn the key on, you hear the fuel pump run and get pressure up. I didn't notice that, but my heart pounding may have drowned it out, ha ha.

The engine light being on was odd.

I think you would be surprised by the ingenuity of the good residents of B-L-Sands, if their little darling, law abiding offspring really want something bad enough they will move mountains to make it happen.
