Motorcycle Thread - Post it all

alas I just bought a shoei Neotec 3 for my PI trip and it appears I don't have a Shoei hed. I might try a thinner liner (all sold out in Aust), ride in a helmet that causes me pain or replace it with a much cheaper option :(
did you find it puts pressure on the sides of your skull? I can confirm it will eventually settle but it does take quite a while (months). I have an Arai shaped head and for some reason bought the Shoei ADV helmet (to match the KTM ADV bike mistake). Loved how quiet it was and how it felt for the first 20mins but after that it was a little tortuous. Couldn't bring it back plus I'm pretty stubborn so eventually found out that either the helmet or my skull accommodated and the pain reduced to a tolerable level.

yes it does put pressure on one side, after an hour or so.

Thanks kten you have given me some hope

@kten is right. Give it some time. A new lid should be tight, especially when first putting on.
My test for new lid is put it on, shake head quickly left and right, if you feel movement it’s going to be to big, especially once broken in.
If you get instant pain when you put it on it’s probably to small or doesn’t suit your head.
They take a while to bed in. Wear it as much as you can to bed it in even when not on bike.
Don’t be embarrassed to wear it watching bike race replays

Ha ha, I have no idea if I have a Shoei, Arai, HA, AGV, Bell, BMW Systems, Shark, whatever head... in 60 years of riding, I've had a lot of lids.

My current helmet that I use on my VStrom is a Caberg and I love it. Super comfy and I never need to have the visor down if it's not raining as I've done the VStrom screen mod, and buffeting is a thing of the past. Love the built in sunvisor and sunnies. Not sure it would work on a normal street/sports bike, as I reckon big speeds would test your neck strength, but on the VStrom with the screen it is perfect.

Glad it’s comfy because goddam that is ugly 😂
I had a car like that once. I absolutely loved it from the drivers seat.

Ha ha different strokes different folks… I don’t think it’s ugly at all. The first time I rode to work with it… one of my mates said wow that’s nice and bought one pretty much straight away.

But I know what you mean. I thought Ducati Pantah’s were ugly, till I rode one. Then I bought one pretty much straight away. Suddenly they were cute.

The drop down is a good idea. A lot of manufacturers are going this way now. Shark have jumped on board but nothing took my fancy colour wise.

Drop down sun visors are ace... good for the sun, duh... but also keeping muck/dust/insects out of your eyes, even when wearing glasses. And zero fogging like a normal visor.

My open face I use on my SS50 has drop down sunnies.

Fogging is so annoying with visors. Pin lock has fixed this problem. I tried most sprays and remedy’s but results are marginal and never last long

Recovery phase complete. It looks like a barn find. Hopefully tank has held up ok and no rust and gummy surprises. Will start the refresh tomorrow

How long has it been sitting around?

Has sat for 6-7 years sadly. Washed it today and sprayed down with WD40. Will start stripping it tomorrow night.
Will be fluids flush, change including brakes. Filters, fork seals, grips have turned to goo. Will remap and dyno before riding as full system gone on. All the usual stuff, battery and then tyres.

Looks a very nice! 🤌

Will probably need new fuel lines and have the injectors cleaned. Give the fuel tank and fuel system a big flush with fresh petrol and Fuel Doctor. Might as well pull the spark plugs and check bores while doing all of that.

If any bikes worthy of a refresh that daytona is it.

Most fun sport bike I’ve ridden. I’m very jealous, even if I have to cut off my legs at the knees to fit.

My main concern is tank/fuel pump. It hasn’t turned over for so long. I’ll pull fuel pump and get a decent look in tank. Fingers crossed there. I’ve got new plugs so will dump a splash of oil in while out. I’ll do coolant flush before starting but will run it up to temperature before dumping oil.
Fun little bike this one
