My eeb has these Blackbird Send, which I never head of until I was staring at them the day I got delivery.

A partnership between Ibis and Stans. I've never liked asymmetric rims but they seem ok so far. The pinch flat resistance smells of marketing bullshit, though I have had a couple of noticeable dings while riding and all was good, that was before I realised that ascending over rocks and steps at ~20kph required more pressure in the rear. Now at 27r/23f.

The wheelset consists of a front Send 1 and a stronger rear Send 2.

That's a how they're supposed to work - quick excerpt from The Loam Wolf (based on Zipp's marketing of course) -

Can't speak for the PSI they're running, but unfortunately it's not skills that is the issue. They all came off non-ebikes, and ride pretty well. It's just the sheer speed you can do with a motor.

I've been riding for a while and am reasonably handy on my meat powerd bike (Strava times usually somewhere in top 20 or 30 on a descent). They were thereabouts before contracting the eeb. Now down Bandages and Glory at the You Yangs (which is about a 1.25km descending black trail) they're about 30 seconds faster on their eebs.

That bike weighs 3kg more than my bike and he weighs 25kg less than me, what monumental forces are being generated? They must be shit wheels or they were laced wrong if he's complaining about them being squiggly.

Hope Fortus30 (dh version, not the single cavity) are proving to be a hell of a rim, based on the last 8 months for me and the kids.

Anyhoo - @Lucaw will hopefully be buying a bike soon as he was close to buying the one I helped with in Cairns (which ultimately didn't go ahead).

Any suggestions on the most bulletproof wheel set, where weight is not an issue.

The eMates I ride with have systematically destroyed everything that they’ve fitted including Light Bicycle, eThirteens, various Bonteagers and a few others.

It’s almost like fitting regular bike components to a bike with significantly more weight and speed is not a good idea.

I suggested Hope Pro 4s built up with Stans Flow EX3, with 36 spokes.

I haven’t ridden DT Swiss since the 2000s, but maybe FR560s as a rim choice could be an option?

Other options might be the Hunt DH rims, Nextie DH or Santa Cruz Reserve DH rims.

FWIW after 18 months or so of gumbying around on a set the 3Zero Motos feel compliant, they're truly exceptional on off camber lines etc. and generally just feel like they give you more options. If you ride hard enough they do flex though. Mate who is about 30kg heavier than me has ragged his set and no issues, but given what the OP's mates have broken I'd go alloy because it's cheaper - FR560s probably.

I should hope so, they're pretty chonky. Quoted rim weight for one is 720g (FR560 is 570g). That's not insignificant for rotational mass (although I've never ridden them so maybe they don't feel it).

Yes @moorey is a super Hope fanboi but I know the hassle of swapping shit trashed rims for 3 people and it's not a quick or pleasing job. When you have races every week or two it's an expensive headfuck to order and replace rims and spokes.

re the fork, I looked at SRAM's Rockshox site and I don't recall finding the info I needed. I emailed the retailer, they were useless, stating in their email that I would need to "consult a suspension specialist"

Re the cleat shims, I already reached out to Pushys 11/5 early pm, AND RC on 10/5. RC never bothered replying, messaged them a number of times. Pushys got back to me the next day, suggesting the Crank Brothers ones, which didn't fit properly, because they were made for the CB cleats.
