Nephew sheared his drawbar pin on the MH 6270. Asked if I could turn up a replacment. No longer available ex MF. Well yes but what size, what material and is it hardened? No idea. OK that makes it easy. Quick check suggest 1040 so that is easy enough. Grabbed the sole remaining bit and measured the hole so that is dimensions sorted. Now for some barstock. Need somehting about 45 dia and 150 long... Bareco make a bigger pin in 1040 so buyed that. Checked hardness on the old and it is unhardened. Easy. 15 minutes in the lathe this weekend... Just need to cold blue it or something to stop the dreaded corrosion.
Edit, I am going to 3D print one too. For s&g. I have some 410 stainless but I suspect that is harder than the tractor since ceramic tools barely mark it.
