ABILITY LEVEL
The riding ability level and fitness level required is from INTERMEDIATE/EXPERT and above. The trails will be technically challenging at times, with very long descents each day. The fitter you are, the more you will get out of this trip, as the altitude, jet lag, and long days of riding will add up. Basically if you have reasonable fitness and skill, you will enjoy it more, but you don’t need to be a top pro to enjoy yourself.

BIKE AND EQUIPMENT

This event will be best suited to a six-inch travel All Mountain/Freeride bike or downhill bike that can pedal well. There will be pedalling sections and some uphills, so a do-everything bike will work best. A full face helmet, elbow pads, full finger gloves and Knee/Shin pads are MANDATORY for the race, as is a letter from you doctor saying you are “PHYSICALLY FIT TO COMPETE”. If you show up without these, you will NOT be able to compete. An MTBA licence also allows you to buy a French version of a day licence for $20 Euro’s, instead of the normal extra insurance at $80-90 Euro’s.
Bring as many parts as you can fit in with your bike, like spare derailer, several sets of brake pads, tubes etc. The pit area for the race is just like Crankworks, and all parts are available. Service your suspension before you leave and if you are not a confident mechanic GET YOUR BIKE SERVICED/TUNED BY A PRO.

It’s a good idea to bring/ride with a camel back and tools. The runs are VERY LONG and can be dusty. You’ll want water and tools available where ever you are.
