Maldon DH Tracks

There was an incident that occurred on Melbourne Cup weekend where someone has rung up the Maldon visitor center and abused one of the volunteers who works there. This person had issue with the fact they were unable to access the tracks on that weekend due to the fact that the Maldon folk festival was on at the time. While they were no doubt inconvenienced by this it doesn’t really justify this kind of behavior.

It is very unfortunate that certain individuals mis-represent the riding community.

We need to keep in mind that these tracks are on public land and it needs to be shared respectfully with the Maldon community as a whole. We rely on their goodwill to continue to develop the tracks at Maldon.
Also worth keeping in mind that the only source of funds for the development of tracks in 2013 has come the money raised by the ride days. So the acts of a few people can jeopardize the efforts of everyone who volunteers their time to on the ride days and who help out on with the track work. It also jeopardize the contributions from everyone that supports the ride days.

I’m sure that the majority of riders do the right thing and this might seem like stating the obvious but this needs to be said just so everyone knows what is going on.
